It's a fantastic game that I would recommend to most people. If you are an edge case like me, though, I cannot recommend it. The perspective, field of view, depth of field, and other visual elements make me nauseated within 5 minutes of opening the game. If I fiddle with settings, completely disable depth of field, and make other changes to the config file, I can negate the initial nausea... but like clockwork I still end up with an intense migraine within 30 minutes.

I want to play the game, and I've never experienced this with any other game before, but every time I've ever tried it's either been intense nausea or intense headache unfortunately.

Rather than scary, the world and experience of the game just a massive bummer.

I put my tech-challenged friend into the game with a random stranger... and it went great?!

The stranger had superhuman levels of patience helping my friend figure out how a putter works. My friend and the stranger then had a great time together for 6 holes - my friend shouting obscenities and the stranger quietly enduring - until my friend accidentally broke my controller and the kind stranger disconnected during the confusion.

The only game I've ever described as "perfect." It makes the first game look like a shoddy tech demo by comparison.

It's a 10 hour game and I have 220 hours in it. That should tell you everything you need to know.

10 years on, there are some *very* minor things that make it show its age, but frankly if it were a new release today I'd still give it a 99%. I'm almost thankful there hasn't been a Portal 3 yet - there's just so much to live up to.

Oh my goodness. I don't know what to say! I bought this game, having entirely missed that it's in Early Access, and STILL found myself grinning ear-to-ear and laughing - with no one else around - at how tremendously silly and fun this game is! What a gem! I can't wait for it to be completed. I never played the games it's based on, either, so nostalgia is not a factor, here.

As for the mechanics, the racing is glorious and smooth. If you see a smooth surface, you can drive on it...and ramp off of it, transfer to the ceiling of a tunnel, stay stuck to it somehow, come rocketing our the other end, land upside-down onm a wall, and keep going. The game also clearly tells you when a feature isn't quite ready for primetime: there's a work-in-progress map in the game, multiplayer is present but incomplete, menu navigation is limited to mouse input in parts...and I know everything is working as currently intended because the game is actually upfront with what's being worked on.

On top of that there are options I don't normally expect to see in cheap racing games (or, in fact, *any* arcade racing games). The HUD has a visibility slider, you can adjust the FOV up to basically fisheye levels, you can disable certain crash effects - although honestly the crash effects on the HUD are so mental that I love them, you can toggle slow-mo in a race by hitting Select on the controller, there are several types of game modes with multiple different types of tracks and arenas to accomodate them.

I'm sure there are issues, and I've only played for an hour or so, but I have been enjoying the game so much that I had to close out and give it a hearty recommendation.

It's like ARK but not obnoxious.

My game of the year for 2015. Sure it's not new but MAN was I missing out. I almost never complete games but I blitzed through this one in a couple days. The boss fights were incredibly creative. Fantastic effort.

Technical notes: This ran consistently at 70-90 fps on Ultra settings at 2160p on a single GTX970. It's not the most graphically advanced game but it still looks damn good and had no discernable latency at 4K. Thank God.

I'd recommend a controller for this - there isn't mouse support in the menus. That's one of very few negatives I can think of honestly.

GTA IV and the EFLC expansion are a great sandbox, but the storylines are uninspired and it's a real chore just to get the game to launch. If you try and mod the game, that difficulty has the potential of skyrocketing. It's great fun when you get it to work and I spent a lot of time tooling around in it, but Just Cause 2 and Saints Row 3 would be better purchases.

It's Just Cause 2. Buy it. Now.

This game gets really addictive. :D
