It's fine. Just like the base game, sure, it lacks some minor things here and there but overall it's pretty good.
If you look at the negative reviews, most don't actually say what they don't like about the DLC - and I know it's an unpopular opinion, but they're just echoing what streamers and youtubers are saying, because they can't form their own opinion.
Stuff like "It's a mess" or "disappointing" or "classic bethesda" is not a review.
How is it a mess? What's actually wrong with it?

Shattered space is visually stunning. The story is interesting and compelling. The amount of content is pretty good.
I will, however agree with what a lot of people are saying - this is base game content stripped from the base game and sold later.
I'd value it at 15$ because of that.

If you liked the base game, you'll like this.
If you're an entitled zoomer that thinks every single game needs to be made in your image, to your specifications - you won't.

Pretty fun for a quick round or two after work, if you're not an entitled zoomer about it.

Wasn't that good from the start, to be honest. I don't get why people were ripping their ♥♥♥♥♥ off about it.

It's fine. It's an alright game, just lacks content. People are overreacting, thinking it was supposed to be the next skyrim and just snowballing the entitled zoomer cancel culture. I expected the planets to be kind of empty, because space is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ huge and mostly empty. I didn't, however, expect the story and sidequests to be that short, though. There's no notable side-story like with the dark brotherhood or brotherhood of steel, a missed opportunity with the Va'ruun IMO (perhaps in a future expansion?). Besides that, there's some missed opportunities that feel like cut features, and some classic bethesda nonsense, like building limitations and unskippable animations.

Overall - It's fine. Just go in with reasonable expectations and it's fine. There's no need to bash it. Play it, rate it for what it is, and not for what other people say it should be.

I found it more enjoyable than not.

10/10, would develop a radar guided missile cruiser again.

Edit post-Space release: Oh they just stopped caring about this game and are just milking it now. They insist on releasing DLC instead of fixing the things people are asking for. Space DLC breaks fundamental fluid mechanics, where two simple fluid volumes won't equalize and will instead create phantom pressures and fluids will disappear.

I was expecting a bad release, but the last time I saw a software release was... I've never seen a release go this bad. The only way it could have been worse is if the game melted my PC. This seems like the type of sofware project that doesn't have any functional or unit testing, and the dev just clicks around the features every time before merging into dev.

Get ONE QA employee guys. One. And don't dismiss what they say either with "this will take too much time to implement". You DON'T know better. This is the result of not testing. This isn't early access, I'm not your QA. I paid for this.

Things are going better. They fixed a lot of things, but the fundamentals are stil ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Overall fun, but you start noticing the bad things once you get comfortable.
