Really great game so far. It's in early access, but its been worked on for years and it shows. It's not a broken mess and it has at least 40 hrs or more depending what your jam is.

I'll probably 100-250 hrs out of it given 3 scenarios and all the difficulty settings + you can approach things differently.

Do not expect an EA game to have thousands of hours. I see some complaints, well.. if it isn't worth $40 then wait. But this isn't anywhere near the buggy, unstable mess I've see most EA release in.

Can't wait to see the final product.

I'm seeing tons of negative reviews with under an hour played which is wild. This game has a lot of content in it. It's like Frostpunk, Surviving the Aftermath had a kid. It's got some very fun idea's. I've never had any bugs or weird issues so far nearly 10hrs in. I speedran a bit of the game on normal to see a lot of content and work it out. On higher difficulties it doesn't hold your hand.

Campaign is also very Frostpunky.

I see a lot of comments about logistics being " the resources just teleport " which means they've removed a lot of the fiddly stuff about needing logistics personnel and whatnot. Honestly, I don't find that an issue. A lot of survivial games actually have a lot of issues on this and this is where a lot of bugs come up. Settlement Survivial had some of these issues as did the Kingdoms card-style approach.

Maybe this isn't for you, but a survival game to me is not about logistics. It's about reclaiming the downtrodden world and actual survival.

The world map stuff is way better than most survival games. You build outputs, send people, some have water, etc. You need to give them powertools, rations, blah blah. Way better than Frostpunk and AFtermaths idea of exploration honestly.

$40 is steep for an indie title in this genre. It's worth the money to me but you can always wait until its fully released. I can't wait to see more from these guys.

This game is awesome, I poured over 70hrs into it and didn't even realize it. I'm sure it slows down more post-end game grind. But trying out all the classes and trying to get them all to 60-70 and seeing how they work is great.

70 hrs? It's worth my $40 already. Even if it ended now I'd be satisfied. I can't wait to see what this games future is.

Great game, rough launch and needed a lot of balancing.

You'll see a lot of bad talk from AOE2 fanboys. But they don't remember how refined AOE2 is and how long it took to get there.

AOE 4 in 2024 is great fun. (Even most of 2023)

It's catching up to AOE2 in terms of numbers. But don't let that fool you, AOE2 has a high pop cause it runs on toasters the world over. That's not a shot at it or a bad thing. But a huge part of the player base won't be playing AOE4 due to the hardware requirements of a 3d game and not a sprite based.

Game on, I've played and loved all the AOE franchises. AOE4 is just another installment to a saga of a franchise I love and grew up on.

Love this game. 10/10 fun with my buddy playing the entire game through the current content.

It's funny how angry some nerds are about the game releasing a few skins for the game in early access.

The game is $20. If you don't want to buy any DLC, don't. But for a lot of us that's a way of supporting the developers.

If this game was $79.99 I'd agree. But for $19.99, I've gotten INTENSE levels of enjoyment from this game. If you're so hard to penny pinch just go pirate your games. But realistically for $20 this game SLAPS so hard.

Price point matters a lot. I think you could pre-order Diablo 4 for like $160 and it has insane monetization. V-Rising is a better game and costs $20. Do the math lol

The performance issues seem to be quite varied. After about 2 minutes in the graphic settings I went from 10 fps to 90 FPS.

I run at 1440 which is often ABOVE the target, 1080P is the target. 2K gaming is a LUXURY for gaming, do not forget this. Nobodies making games specifically for 2k, if you are gaming at 2k you are like less than 5% of gamers. Steam did an entire stat recovery of this and found that over 90% of the player base is still gaming at 1080P keep this in mind.

That being said I run a 3070 with a decent rig. When Cities Skylines 1 ended I was getting 35-40 FPS with ALL the dlc enabled and lots of fancy settings. While the FPS wasn't high it was VERY consistent and the game was 100% enjoyable to play.

I'm getting 70-90 FPS with my 3070, I mostly turned off Motion Blur, Depth of Field and since I game at 1440P you can low your AA way down as you already have more pixels than you need and thus do not need it to be as high to blur the jagged edges.

Cities Skylines 2 should not of shipped with all these CRAZY settings maxed out that gamers often know to get rid of entirely. I have never once wanted to play a game with depth of field turned on or motion blur. Massive wastes of FPS for an insanely tiny gain of immersion.

I nearly did not buy the game seeing all these bombing reviews. But I am having lots of fun and I'm above 60-70 FPS at all times. Which for a 1440P 165hz Monitor is less than ideal, but it runs smooth for me. If it doesn't run smooth for you, please return it. I know I might be one of the lucky ones but GIVE IT A TRY.

Valheim has some interesting idea's. It can be a ton of fun. I don't regret the purchase but remember this is an Early Access Game and it is also a procedural generated voxel based game. This game has all the same quirks and pitfalls of the early days of Minecraft.

I could tell you all the awesome boss fights or the fun of exploring the world. I'd still buy this game but there are a few major draw backs.

The traveling can get quite tedious. I play with friends and we'd entertain each other but if you're doing it solo it feels like a huge waste of time.

The game has some strange issues with FPS. I have a very good gaming PC and I dropped to 20-30 FPS in my own base. I LOVE base building so this was a massive draw back. The mod community is good, I had tons of cool stuff to add to a base like I saw in video's. But what they don't tell you is all the cool lights, structures, etc. They tax your GPU pretty hard and this was a massive downfall for us.

And yes, I did try all of this without mods and we had the same issues. Instead of some cool epic base we made tiny ones because it was disappointing that it ate your FPS.

I joined as Mistlands dropped, everything up to Mistlands was fun. But I think Mistlands is a massive downer, the zone is very irritating, hard to traverse and just not fun. I don't know where they went wrong. It was like they listened to one hardcore kid and decided the entire community needs this terrible experience.

I'm a weekend warrior, but I have a lot of games and hours under my belt. I just didn't find the recent update fun and it's disappointing the Devs focus on new content instead of re-tooling old content as well. Some of these new fun features are great, but you get near the end and look back and realize it feels a bit disjointed.

Still a fun game, but needs a lot of work.

Goblins of Elderstone is a fun colony survival type game. There actually is a real element of survival. It is not exactly straight forward on how to do particular things but this is often the fun of these sorts of games. You can fail and try again, you can try out different combinations.

A lot of frustration I see in the negative reviews seems to be a lack of creativity or willingness to fail and try again. They're goblins and they have positive and negative traits. Be sure not to assign LAZY goblins to critical tasks. Pick your King/Queen and Breeders carefully. For instance, do not get the Pious trait in there or you'll end up with TONS of goblins who can't do anything but priestly duties which there are not many early on.

It has some issues and those are being patched pretty quickly. You can feel a lot of love went into this game. In my opinion it is a lot like when Rimworld was in beta for years. Except they pulled the trigger sooner. It's a fully functional game, it's not too expensive. Does it have some issues? Yeah sure, but so does $90 AAA Call of Duty titles.

I saw Nookrium playing this and I snatched it up. Granted I have played dozens of Colony Survival games. A lot of good ones and a lot of bad ones. I'd recommend Goblins of Elderstone, it's better than anything I've seen since Frostpunk 1 and they're still supporting it post release.

Take your time, poke around. Enjoy the atmosphere.
