It sucks. Do not bother with the game unless it's 75% off or more.

Go play Ghosts of Tsushima. It's cheaper and does a better job at doing the same thing as this peace of slob. I'll keep trudging thru but so far it's awful. Nothing innovative at all and it's the same Assassins Creed game. Japan is the only thing keeping me playing.

BioWare is back.

I was fairly hesitant at first. The dialogue was atrocious. But I held on and the story corrected itself. Its almost as if the game was meant to be a live service at first. The game is fragmented. It doesn't know what it wants to be. A live service title or a story-driven narrative. Fortunately, by the end we got a BioWare game that we've known and loved.

Although I do believe the game is flawed in its writing, it is redeemed by its combat. The skill tree is massive and the replay-ability is stretched thrice. Rogue, Warrior, or Mage. With three unique specializations for each class. This is definitely a game that you will choose to replay. Because the combat is THAT satisfying. The enemies do feel spongy. But with the abilities to enchant gear and the detonation system (?) with your companions -- it makes it much more bearable.

Companions. At the beginning, they all were written terribly. Very PG, not fleshed out. It all stays PG throughout. BUT, they all did grow on me by the end. The side missions helped a lot with fleshing out each character. And I grow to love every single one of them. If you're looking for companions of the past games, that's not in this game.

This title was originally Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. And it was going to be a live service title. It's littered all throughout the game. The inventory system is very reminiscent of Destiny 2. Some of the enemy varieties feel like the "raid bosses". And the enemy variety is slim. All throughout the game you'll find the same old enemies. And because of the failures of live service games recently, BioWare decided to switch this to a single-player narrative. If they had just decided this to be a single-player narrative from the get-go, this would've been the best game in the series.

Hopefully, by the next title, BioWare can sharpen the writing and with the foundations of the combat system.

Does this game stand on its own? Very much so. For $60 you're getting a lot of content. I clocked-in 60 hours completing all the side content + the main game. The ending is actually an ending. It ties a knot and if the studio ever decides to end Dragon Age: It's a satisfying end to the series.

Live service cash grab. Gun-play is repetitive and lifeless. Expensive skins.

Drop rates for basic descendants are abysmal or misleading. 20% drop rate for a material recipe (you need three to build an ascendant/character) is misleading and false. They want you to grind the game longer to keep the player count high.

If you like to shoot random and monotonous monsters. This is for you. If you're looking for any type of substance. Avoid. For something for free, this is okay compared to the market competition. Still, avoid if you can. If you have nothing else to play, by all means.

Amazing game. Lots of potential. For it to be killed by live service monetization is ironic. Now they're bringing players back with the promise of all the DLCs for free. But be wary of a potential monetization effort by DLCs just like Payday. As long as they are priced correctly, I will buy.

AI are pack mules for the money bags. That's about it. Enemy mobs seem to be fair. Extreme difficulty... is extreme.

The rogue-lite campaign is fun.

Multiplayer is fun as well. Support the game! Buy it! It's worth it (so far). A few bugs but definitely worth it for $20.

A minor complaint: I am level 52. Each level grants you three magazines that can grant you skins for the guns or the bosses, AI mobs, and weapons. You can choose one magazine out of three. Not once have I gotten one silenced weapon or anything related to stealth. Other than the motion sensor. I would suggest giving the players weapons and utilities first before giving skins. I've been bombarded by skins that do not matter because I don't have the weapons to put it on!

This is Elden Ring 2 disguised as an expansion. There is a stupid amount of content. It's difficult but rewarding.

If you're having difficulty playing thru: the game rewards you for exploring. Look for scadutree fragments and you're solid. The game nerfs you until you find enough.

This might actually be the best DLC of all time. And I've played Witcher 3's Blood and Wine (which was crowned best DLC of all time before Erdtree). Yet again, FromSoft has given us a benchmark for open world games. This is what every game should strive for.

Early Access Review
This game runs like complete ass. Averaging around 30-40 FPS. And it dips to near 5 FPS when there's action. It's unplayable. And I have a decent setup.

12700k / 3080

Avoid for now.
