I would have actually paid money for this! Charming little visual novel with a fun story and self-aware humour

The map is far spread out, and the objectives are very repetitive, but the gameplay and quality of life improvements in Just Cause 3 over Just Cause 2 gives it the edge in my view. The map itself is much more visually appealing than both 2 and 4 in my opinion, as the bright colours and sunshine really work with the tropical island setting. David Tennants occasional commentary is also charming and is used to show how all news is twisted in the dictators favour. Honestly, I think Just Cause 2 added more to the franchise, and is a better made package, but Just Cause 3 adds more ways to have fun, in a prettier package. It regularly drops in price to 2-3 quid, and I highly recommend picking it up when it does that.

This game is brilliant, but is dated, and has issues mostly due to it's restricted 18 month development. I highly recommend it, and using a solid selection of mods to make it prettier, less buggy and for gameplay enhancements. I've beaten the game twice now, one run with mods and DLC, and would call it one of my favourite games ever made. I still feel like there is so much more content to dive into, as there are a few more factions I am yet to side with or side against. Absolutely a good purchase, and pretty much endlessly replayable.

I have just finished the games 'True Ending' on my first run (using the internet to avoid any bad endings). This is an incredible JRPG and has both excellent turn based combat, and incredible slice of life sim gameplay (my personal favourite parts). The cast of characters that build up throughout the game are so well created that all of them have a personal tale behind them that you can help them with, meaning at the end of the game you are surrounded by well rounded individuals. This is my introduction to the series, which has blown me away and has landed the follow ups (arena/ultimax/dancing) as well as persona 3 and 5 on my to buy list.

The soundtrack to the game is also probably up there in my favourite game soundtracks. The opening theme is a banger to start, the general theme for explorations (Heartbeat, Heartbreak) is catchy and upbeat enough that even after 60+ hours of game you aren't sick of it. The battle theme is blood-pumping and gets you excited to fight even after you hear it's opening for the thousandth time. 'Corridor' is what I have on while writing this review, and is honestly a beautiful piece of piano that I'll probably relax to for years to come.

It is not without issues, as it shows its age at times, both in textures and in the way it handles some characters. It also has some minor port issues, most obvious being the fully animated cutscenes being stuttery and oftentimes I would rewatch them on YouTube to get the proper experience. There are occasional frame drops, but in a game paced like this it really doesn't affect much at all.

I cannot attest for the Keyboard controls as I used a PS4 controller for my playthrough (which is fully supported, down to the button prompts). It took me about 65 hours to beat, meaning I got plenty of game for my money, and that doesn't include my future NG+ plans. I have come out of it feeling like I have made a new group of friends that I can (and will) revisit in future playthroughs.

In conclusion, it's £16, and for that price I cannot recommend this enough. This is looking hopeful to be my game of the year, and will no doubt be a defining memory of my experience in quarantine and possibly my young adulthood as a whole.

I just got the final achievements, completing my 100% run. Overall this is exactly what I expected and hoped it would be, a pretty simple arena fighter RPG that goes through the story of DBZ. I had a great time and it definitely had a whole bunch of fan service for fans of the show/manga. If you don't like dragon ball, this isn't for you at all, but if you do like it, absolutely get it as it is jampacked with little details to appease the fans. The side quests in particular were often references to the original dragon ball. The game has it's issues, and feels quite repetitive, but I was happy to ignore that because I am a massive dragon ball shill and the combat felt pretty satisfying. It's a very easy game, and I didn't struggle with a boss outside of the fight with Raditz, as I didn't grab any healing items before the fight. I beat the campaign after about 35 hours, and then spent the remaining 15 in my playtime grinding out the post game sidequests and achievements I had yet to unlock. I would highly recommend this to any DBZ fan, particularly if it is on sale (I picked it up for half price in the Humble Spring Sale)
