this slaps.
1.
this is my first MH game, and i will tell you, the WALLS of text that hit you at first are disorientating.
if this is ur first MH game, or ur not a big fan, just skip thru them and go DO STUFF.
doing stuff, and figuring out what the concequences are later is the methodology that this game is built on.

2.
this game is THE grind.
it isn't A grind, it is the embodiment of grinding.
i have not finished a weapon, a set of armor, or anything yet and i have 33 hours so far, and i will continue playing this game for a while. btw i like speedran everything so far so i think there is at least like 60 - 100 hours worth of content for sure.

3.
combos are a thing
there aren't insanely long ones, like the longest in the game is around 8-10 presses, and it is with the switch axe i believe.
but the part about combos isn't the length, it is the positioning and the way you execute them.
just because you have the mechs to do the combo, doesn't mean the monsters are just going to let you bc "oh s*** he's doing the funny combo thing let's just stand here and do nothing".

i personally think the cutscenes are a bit cringe, at least the ones with the characters. just skip em' they aren't that important.
watch the ones with the animals tho, the cats are cute asf.
