Love the first game, and this one just as much.
The Game play loop is addictive, the visuals have a unique flair, voice acting is great and well written. Plus i got a couple of the siren songs stuck on the brain.

Looking forward to the full release.

I like the game for what it is.

I can't reccomend this game...
I bought this game thinking to myself it would be similar to "Diablo 3" but more pixel like. after having played the game for 30 min or so, i found myself rather bored.

The game revolves around slaying enemies, receiving xp to level up. And collecting potion and other trinkets to further upgrade your character. Quite simple.
So you would think they would make the slaugter of foes to be enjoyable. Considering that the game is about "kill, collect, repeat"

"NO!"

My one and only issue with this game is the combat.
It persist with walking backwards while shooting at the enemy, and accasanoly dodge fire balls or lasers. Thats it.

There are a variety of different classes. most of which are dlcs

But that doesn't change how you play whatsoever. Whether you choose the Pyromancer who shoots fire balls and meteorites. Or the Nomad with a giant (badass) sword and a towel around his head. The game will still persist of walking backwards, and slowly chip away health from the cluster of enemis who walks aimlesly in a straight line towards you

(Bought this game while it was 90% off. and i still asked for a refund)

+You can buy sweet ass hats and customize your character
+There's full controller support
+It has co-op and massively multiplayer
+Visualy, it's a very deasent looking game (i'm a sucker for retro looking games)

-Cons
-Overall combat. Considering it's a "hack and slash" game and the only thing you are gonna do is battle hords of foes. that ain't a good sign

Playing this with another 2-3 buds Is actually quite enjoyable.
i still belive in what i've written above. but multiplayer, it's pretty alright

A beautiful game.
Showing the three different stages in life, where you get to experience the same location in different ages of the characters life.

You dreamt of working in a donut factory.
In order to get there you have to walk over a bridge. Jump between the cracks and gaps in the bridge. And dodge the dragons that swop in from the side, knocking you off.

I asume this is to show the very optemistik child that asume everthing is "Ay~oh~key"
And that working there will be the outmost delightful experience.

The color scheme is beautifully set up.
Consisting of green leaves which looks like they have been injected with kryptonite
(very strong green)
Dragoons and the lava under the bridge with a midly soft red/orange'ish color.
This is probably the more visually interesting level in the game.

You've grown weary of work, life, friends.
You name it.
Walking to Work every day for the last "X" amount of years. Have eaten away the light from your youth. You no longer care to look around you as the color from the world has vanished and faided away.
It's clear that this is supposed to be the "Mid Life Crisis"

Visually this is very bland level, as it's supposed to be.
All color has been removed. the only lingering colors left are shades of gray ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

You still work at the same job, and walk the same path every morning.
You realise that you no longer have the strapping young body, that you once had as a young adult.
And that the world is starting to outpace you. Your eyes are starting to go.
Runing out of breath with only a few feet. You move like a man who's had a few to many beers.

You are quite literally at the end of your rope.
This is beautifully demonstrated through the level as the movement of the camera is delay. Giving you the feeling you're having an old and tired body weighing you down. The colors have turned to a soft brown, giving you the impression your eyes have taken a turn for the worst.
Simultaneously as the is a soft playing violin (with a hint of french)
in the background giving you that vintage feeling

Long story short
You can play as a depressed Adult.
A blind Old Man.
Or a Child who's on LSD

Regarles, the game still plays around with the stages of life as i've written above.
I won't update my review any further as i've not played the updated versions of the game.
