I wrote a review on this game a couple of years back, where i stated that it was one of the best games i have ever played..
And i stand by that, completely. This game has been a journey and i have seen its ups and downs. Back in 2013 when i was gifted this game for christmas i was eager to play. I spawned at the coast, followed the road until i saw a fence. The fence lead to a military base where i found my very first M4, it was abselutely thrilling. I was familiar with the dayz consept becuase i had been playing the mod for a while.
Now, on the 18th of december. With the 1.0 release, i have noticed the same feeling i had when i first opened the game. The map was huge and had familiar traits. I had fun, i looted like i normally would, played friendly, played like a bandit, killed a few players, helped a few players. Found a car, spent a couple of hours fixing it for it to bug out, crash into a tree and leaving me flying out the front window, i laughed, took a break and came back on. It didnt matter to me, and i really wish more people would see that if you give dayz a chance, without trying to "break the game" and find negative points to continue the unneccessary hate towards the developers, they could have countless hours of fun.
Now to the main issue i have with Dayz.
In the earlier builds of dayz there would be a weekly maintance where a weapon or two would be added, zombies would get tweaked, cities would expand, new military bases would appear, new spawn locations, better servers, more loot, less loot and better engine. But as of right now, the game has been moving slow, and this couldve been avoided very easily by simply doing this weekly maintance with a small patch, maybe a weapon/magazine or new clothes would keep the game fresh, and the playerbase would enjoy these small but good changes. Instead we have a three month++ between each patch, the 0.62-0.63 took around 12 months, which was very sad as a long time dayz player. I would recommend this game to anyone that is open minded and enjoys survival games. I have played alot of different survival games ( and enjoyed some) but they never make me come back the day after like dayz does. The rush of being fully geared, eating beans in a house, suddenly hearing steps outside. A door opening and players rushing in, a great firefight breaks loose, you might win, you might loose.
Thank you for reading :)
See you in cherno!
