EDIT 8: Here we go again. Pay-to-Win monetization has hit Helldivers 2. Worse part about it, it's on the Superstore rotation. You may not see it for weeks at a time.

Add on top of that, they have chosen to go with DOUBLING the cost of the prices for a "collaboration" that's owned by the same parent company, SONY. There is likely no additional cost, or at the bare minimum, not a 100% additional cost. This is worsened by the fact that they've split this monetization "collaboration" into 2 parts. It will cost roughly $38 USD to get the complete collaboration. That's 3.9 Warbonds that at the current time of this review. I can't tell if this is Arrowhead pushing this or SONY; because the timing of this is absolutely disgusting. Every time this damn game gets some positive news, it's ALWAYS ruined days - 2 weeks later with some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

EDIT 7: Its been one week later and SNOY has not reversed the Region Locking. In fact, they ADDED 3 COUNTRIES TO THE LIST. They have also not removed their PSN requirement from the Store page. SNOY over here trying to break into the PC market by treating it like a console community.

My review will stay negative until SNOY removes the region locking and removes the PSN requirement from the store page.

EDIT 6: A miracle has happened today. Sony has reversed their decision to enforce PSN account linking. Hopefully this includes removing the region locks on the game now too. We all dive together again. Onwards to spreading Managed Democracy!

EDIT 5: They're forcing SNOY account linking for a garbage reason. If it was working fine before without it, it doesn't need to be forced now. Arbitrary mandate to mine for user data. I don't support this.

EDIT 4: Back and forth the review goes. The recent balance decision was done; however, they patched some things in the backend to not spawn as many Armored units now making it harder to deal with them. Now, it feels more like, if you don't kill the armor units asap, then it will steamroll to being out of control. This is manageable and I'm fine with that. So, back to positive review but I am concerned about the direction of the game, considering this first balance patch was QUITE rough.

EDIT 3: Controversial balancing decision. It looks like they're taking the game back to Helldivers 1 play style of never fighting, always retreat from combat on harder difficulties. I didn't like that that was the method to play Helldivers 1 above difficulty 10. So, I never played there. I actually enjoyed that Helldivers 2 stopped that before this current patch. Up to difficulty 9, you could stand your ground, shoot the enemy and fallback at the same time. As of today, they nerfed the only consistent anti-armor gun and tell us to use stratagems instead. Bro, strategems normally are DEBUFFED by increased call-in time and recharge time. Why not buff the other anti-armor guns to be competitive. The Rail gun was not thee problem. The other options not being good enough is the problem. I never ran the shield, as I always bring extra ammo for the team.

Insane balancing decision here.

EDIT 2: The AFK timer, while annoying, they increased the server pop to 700k as of the time of this review. I will rate positive because they're doing a great job with the game so far with the emergency fixes.

HOWEVER, I STILL DO NOT SUPPORT THIS INVASIVE AND BAD REP ANTICHEAT.

EDIT 1: They added a 15m AFK timer. Imagine waiting hours to login to the game, just to get kicked when you wanted to take a restroom, see your significant other, and / or smoke break / make a sandwich in one go. Then you come back to the logged out screen and you're back to waiting hours to get in.

AFK timer is complete ass.
