Warframe is the #1 third-person action heavy looter-shooter.

The game has been constantly updated with new features and content for several years, including two large "mini-expansions" of sorts in the form of open-world areas.

What started out as a game with basically no plot besides "you're a space ninja" now has a decent sci-fi plot with a few unexpected twists and some expected ones.

But all of that isn't really that important as the core gameplay.

Movement is smooth and responsive, you're given a great sensation of freedom of movement as you can jump, double jump, bullet jump (a half-vertical long range jump), jump off of walls, dodge roll, sprint and slide and then follow up any of those actions with an attack or shooting at enemies.

Melee combat is currently being reworked, but even without the rework it provides enough variety with weapon types and different stances to the point where "melee only" is perfectly viable way to play up until the really end game content where a gun will help a lot.

There's a wide selection of guns and the amazing sound design helps make the guns feel impactful and satisfying. You got your standard shooty shooty bullet guns such as assault rifles, handguns, shotguns and similar, explosive weapons like grenade launchers, to sci-fi guns such as laser and plasma guns and then weirder stuff like chain-lightning guns, living bioweapons, flamethrowers and other exotic guns.

Another praiseworthy thing is that the game has one of the most fair cash-shops of any F2P game.

While you can buy any weapon/warframe in the game through that shop, you can also CRAFT any weapon/warframe for "free" (free here meaning you need to play the game and grind for resources). However many guns actually feel overpriced on the cash-shop and it's much more efficient to simply "grind" for them as you will get most required resources by just playing the game normally.
The only thing you will "need" to buy are extra slots for weapons/warframes, however they are dirt cheap and you can trade rare items that you find in the game for cash-shop currency with other players.

Even if you are a casual player you can enjoy Warframe by just playing it from time to time and enjoying some "horde mode" style missions, or doing solo Spy missions at your own leasure or if you want a quick match you can try some of the faster missions where you need to kill fixed number of enemies and then leave.
There's missions that take 2-3 minutes to finish and there's "Endless" missions that you can grind for increasing difficulty and challenge along with more loot and rewards.
