Just a heads up before the review: Ubisoft has closed down the servers, so the "Online Challenges" no longer work. Not that big of a deal honestly, just a little annoying as they keep reminding you that there are new challenges (even though you can't access them).

The actual review:
This is probably the best version of 2D Rayman right now (and maybe for the future as well).
Even if you couldn't get into Rayman Origins you might still like this one as the levels are more streamlined and the "secrets" are more obvious.

One downside I could think of is if you just got done playing Origins, as this one has 40 levels from Origins but remade with the new style. They are however only required if you're going for 100%. The main game can be played without interacting with the remade levels.

This game is overflowing with personality and that unique Sui Arts touch!
If you haven't played his older games you might be a little surprised though. The game doesn't take itself very seriously and there's lots of fourth wall-breaking (the game even points out that the joke is getting overused in the beginning). If you don't enjoy the humor, you're probably not going to enjoy your time with the game.
However, I do recommend that everyone at least tries the game. There's a free demo, so nothing will be lost if you don't like it. You're not going to experience anything like this anywhere else (except in Sui Arts other games then obviously).
But I'll keep following Sui Arts and I'm already looking forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work!

The only thing I can see as a negative is that this is very obviously a mobile-first kind of game and that includes the big on-screen buttons. It would be nice to have a setting that removes some of those (for example the interact button in the bottom right) so it looks closer to a game made for the computer. It's obvously not needed and doesn't change how good this game is, but it would be nice to at have the option there.
(Edit: The amazing developer listened and updated the game, so you can now hide the buttons through the settings)

The game is also released on Google Play and Apples App Store. I’ve played his other games on mobile and only bought this on Steam so that I could enjoy the new pixel-art on a bigger screen.

In short: Buy this and when you've played this, play all other Sui Arts games if you haven't already.

Positive:
If you're even thinking about this game, just play it.
It's free and short. Even if you take your time it will only take about 1h to complete and the less you know before you start playing the better.

Negative:
It makes me wish there was more (that I would gladly pay for).

This is probably one of the most satisfying platformers I've ever played.
If you're even just a little bit interested in this game, just buy it and give it an honest chance. It will feel a little limiting in the beginning, but towards the end you'll be flying through each room with ease while having a blast!

How you use each ability is 100% up to you and because of how this game is designed, it is possible to get to places that was intended for a specific ability before you even unlock it.

Full disclosure. As of writing this review, I've only played the story mode.

If you remember playing (or still playing) the first Slayin, you'll enjoy this game. I've been playing the first one on android for the past 10 years and had no idea there was a second one until yesterday.
Slayin 2 takes the concept of the first game and enhances it to fit a new device and generation. You'll notice that pretty quickly as there's now 4 action-buttons, compared to the 1 from the first game. These buttons are jump, ability, switch lane and some super ability that i haven't gotten to yet.
Even if you've recently played another arcade-like game like this, the two lanes really change things up.
Are there no enemies nearby to continue the combo? Switch lane. A boss has an attack that you're too slow to avoid? Switch lane. Are you getting bored? Switch lane.
Weaving between the two lanes to avoid damage and keep the combo going is one of the most satisfying things you'll experience in a game.

It doesn't matter who you are, there will be a character that fits your playstyle. And if you start to feel bored you can just try another character. Some characters are better in some situations. There are 8 characters and from what I've seen, all of them have a really different playstyle.

One of the best parts is that this doesn't nullify the first game. The developer really understood the core of the original, kept that and changed pretty much everything else. In other words, you can continue to play both without one "destroying" the other.

The only bad thing that I noticed is that when you walk across some bigger environments and the camera has to move, it seems like it's lagging-ish. I don't think this is the case as if you stop moving (even just for a millisecond) and then continue everything is fine.
I never experienced this during normal gameplay though.

So, if you're still reading this and are into arcade-ish games, even just a little. Buy it. I cannot recommend this game enough. There’s many hours of fun for a very cheap price.

PS: I heard a rumor that if this game sells well, we might get a remake of the first one. Then you can be Slayin both on the computer and in the bedroom (on your phone of course).

I want to start this review by saying that this was the first game in years that I actually felt like 100% (and actually succeed).

Did you enjoy the first Psychonauts? Well this is just more of that, as it takes place just a couple of days after the first one.
If you haven't played the first one, I highly recommend that you do so first. You'll unlock most of the previous powers fairly quickly, so going back to the first one after this might feel limiting.

Unless you really want to, you don't have to play the VR game. This game takes place directly after the VR game, but there's nothing important that happens there that they don't explain at the start of this game.

If you're still reading, buy the game. You're obviously interested enough that you can't go wrong with this.

Don't let the horror-tag scare you. This is more of a creepy thriller than anything else. After the first couple of hours, the horror part moves to the background to let everything else shine. You should play this for the story and the atmosphere (something this game does perfectly). The graphics are also amazing. In some places you can barely see a difference between real life and the game. But, there's one thing that The Medium does horribly, and that is the performance. I don't know why, but this game will probably lag in certain scenes. Overall, the performance is alright, but the frames will drop for a couple of seconds.I'm using an RTX 4080, so maybe it works better on AMD.In short: Amazing game, just don't expect to be running it 100% lag free.

Early Access Review
Let me ask you a question. Did you enjoy Vampire: The masquerade - Bloodlines?
If the answer was anything but no, play this game.
It needs optimization with the intro through. When you first start this game it will run like if PowerPoint tried to run in Excel, but as soon as you get past the registration and intro so you're in-game, it's really smooth.

The movement is fluid as you climb up and jump from walls. The only quirk i found was when the top edge wasn't 90 degrees. This could cause some glitching as it doesn't know if it should continue climbing or get up on the building, but this is hopefully fixed before launch.

The combat isn't too advanced or fun on its own, but added with the movement this game becomes more addictive than your cousins cocaine.

This was by far the best battle royal-game out there.
The keyword here is "was" as it's closing down. As many others have already pointed out, the game was a lot better before.
Not to say that it's bad in any way, it was just better before. After they changed so the director can't help when someone is fighting, they lost all the respect.
Before people said hello to the director and always tried to win him/her over, but now, if you're the director you'll only be met with a "shut up" if you try to talk and actually be a director.
The gameplay is still a lot like it was before (maybe little more fast-paced) so I still strongly recommend this game while it's here. Just don't expect to see a lot of the director-feature, as no one want to play that anymore.

I think that if they just focused more on giving the director fair powers instead of removing them when someone is fighting, this might have lived a lot longer.

In short:
The game is great as long as you don't play as a director.
