It's kind of rough, has many genuine problems, but has some solid creative ideas and proves sonic can work in an open world game, I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end and recommend it to people tired of the modern "Boost" formula for Sonic and doesn't mind the jank that comes with a clearly rushed game.
