Welcome to Stellaris, not the first grand strategy game set in space, but I think the best one out there. To simply put it, Stellaris allows you to estabish an empire of your choosing and basically vie to conquer the whole galaxy. My 500 hours of gameplay (as of 2.2), I can simply say that Stellaris and Paradox in general provides so much life into the game. Even though one may argue that the large amount of DLCs is a downside, I think the DLCs are much more worthy to purchase if you are an ardent fan of space games as each and every one of them creates new mechanics or story fluff to spice up your game. Even if you are a player who would normally only play grand strategy as a multiplayer game (due to... reasons...) you can simply purchase the base game and rely on 1 buddy who does have all the DLCs, essentially sharing them with you. (A *totally* better game plan than most AAA devs (not naming any but you know what I mean))
