Broken game, broken mod support, cannot get even the basic stuff done well, absolute dissapointment over CS1. Paradox and CO have lost my trust.

I do enjoy some difficult games, but I have grown frustrating with the grind and some pretty major oversights. Offline mode should not have forced PvP, its not even noted to the player that in one area of an otherwise safe place is a forced NPCvP with no warning (I get this game doesnt want to hold your hand, but something like this needs to be obvious). And for someone not interested in forced PvP (I have a toddler so I have to leave at a momen't notice), and the lack of a pause button when being in offline mode, just a very hard game to get into.

Another annoyance is that you cannot compare your equipped stuff to what a merchant has. Thats pretty standard even on other grindy tough RPGs.

Initial Review at End
Current Review: (Progress through deciding mission in Pit) Recommend but with Caution. A number of bugs. Select of characters at start of combat has issues, sometimes they don't select a number of times. Some skills such as Biotech revert to main character instead of tagged character to get experience. My own calculations on hit chance show its not quite correct, I am getting lower outright hits and more grazes than percentages show. Sneak and stole a Regulator badge, but despite having it got no options in dialogue when it came to impersonate to show any return. Odd, I suspect it SHOULD boost impersonate.

Build specific. Lvl 4 Sneaky Sniper Smartass build, with all 3 followers. 4/4/9/9/8/8 with tags of rifle, critical strike, streetwise, and sneak. Crit at 5, Sneak 4. Persuasion 4 / Street 5 / Impersonate 3. Build gets thief companion to lockpick/computers high enough to get the "prize" of getting to lockpick 5. Pretty much used stealth and crit strike extremely effectively up till final mission. Advantage of this build is you can get all 3 followers VERY FAST, which helps when trying to min/max and not duplicate skills amongst your character and follower.

With this build, final fight in Pit is impossible Must use alternative non combat option. This fight completely lacks stealth options pre-fight which could do a lot to make it possible for a stealth character. New and experienced players need to fail a number of times to figure out how to progress with checks. Once you figure out how to do it, there is a big sense of accomplishment. Atmosphere is good. Number of ways to get to finish a quest. Need quite a bit of planning to do it.

Initial Review :
I am an experienced strategy gamer, I prefer hard games. The initial starting difficulty of this game is extremely frustrating, and I am not one to be normally frustrated by playing hard games on high difficulty.

The controls are clunky. The initial fights are themselves very difficult to get through. This game feels like it is set up for diplomatic talking play with optional gunplay, but that a gunplay based build is simply not viable without massive save scumming at the start.

I cannot speak to how amazing it feels to bring your first longship full of iron back to your home.
