The gameplay feels refreshed but it is like playing God of War with all that wall breaks and tight space traversals combined with RE4 gameplay in the labyrinth sections with timed survival events that are just filler content.

Characters looks weird too, Eddie has a fat face and neck of a 100 pounds obese man but his body is not fat enough proportionally to his head. Maria/Mary and Angela also have weird looking faces for some reason. If you see Bloober's artbook you will notice the difference with the end character models.

It feels like they made changes to not hurt obese people with their Eddie interpretation in the same way that Angela isn't pretty as their own artwork for some reason and ended up with her current face model.

Also this game is really explicit with all characters trauma, specially for James (an example of this is when James looks the cup of whiskey at Heaven's Night), which in the original was up to the player to discover looking for details. The same happens with James/Mary apartment and all the hints for it.

With all the above said, I think that Bloober didn't left anything for the player to discover or to interpret after playing the game. Everything is obvious with all the hints. I can describe the remake as a good interpretation but doesn't left anything to the imagination or interpretation to the new players like the original did for years and that even the developers avoided to answer those questions to keep the mystery to the players interpretation. Even with the starting warning screens they spoiled all the topics that was up to the player to discover in their travel as James through Silent Hill. This is the main reason of why this game won't give much to talk and discuss like the original did for more than 20 years.

Silent Hill 2 Remake feels like an attraction park pointing out everything with fun gameplay mechanics and it really shows the love that Bloober put into it but the real deal will always be the original.

Sadly this game is affected by frequent stuttering running in high-end hardware and even PS5. As many other UE5 games this need to be addressed before launching the product with a 70USD price tag.

The review will be updated to positive once Bloober Team fix the stuttering issues.
