There are two very different types of people who will play this game and will dictate whether or not you will enjoy it. Most of the negative comments you will find are from those who have played 1-100 hours in the game. Life is Feudal: Your Own is not the sort of game you can enjoy fully if you are a casual gamer, if you don't like working together with others, or if you are not a masochist (most of those hours are terraforming and herbalism). Upon joining a server, you can either work incredibly hard to build your own hovel in the woods and survive or seek out a group needing help. Teamwork is important in the game and no town can be run by one person alone, no town can function if everyone isn't co-operating. If your farmers and animal-keepers are casual players, then your town goes without food. There is a learning curve and it is a fun game if you find the right people to build an empire with. :)

TLDR; Don't play if you're a casual gamer or a loner. You may not enjoy your experience.

I came into this game not expecting very much. It was a citybuilder in which you needed to micromanage a medieval settlement through harsh winters, food shortages, natural disasters, and limited resources all while making certain your population is still growing to make up for the deaths.

Surprisingly, this game became addictive. Unlike other similar games where you would have to build an army to combat some sort of evil, this game is completely survival-based. It's strategy in its most relaxing state. I cannot stop playing it and when my whole city dies out from fever or starvation, I just start another.
