Granted, I don't have too much time under my belt within this game. I do however really appreciate what this game is trying to accomplish within the first hour of gameplay. It introduces you to a very comical environment that makes fun of itself in interesting and colorful ways. The world is beautifully crafted than can be appreciated just as much on low settings as on high or ultra. The gunplay feels much better than the other Obsidian titles I've played (FO:NV), but is still familiar with its modified version of VATS.

I found that the character creation was good enough that I was able to model my character to my likings, but I would have liked some deeper options.

I think that the best comparison to be made between this game and any others is Fallout 4, and perhaps Borderlands. The RPG elements are very reminiscent of the classic Bethesda titles, but the level of humor is very similar to Borderlands.

I've enjoyed what I've played thus far, and that's why I'm recommending it. It could change the further I play the game, but I'm confident that I'll stay engaged.

It's one of the few games that I find myself actually losing track of time in game. The immersion is superb and I mean to tell you, VR completely gives the sense of being under water.

It's free. It's fun. It's easily one of the most versatile free VR games that you can get. The collection of small mini-games are fun, engaging, and they seriously do a lot to make the player forget that there's a ceiling fan right over their head. The Longbow game in particular is goofy and fun. The little dog-like robot is adorable. Overall, it takes all the things that can make a VR game good and puts them into a great little demo that on its own can provide a lot of enjoyment. And the best part? It's free.

I'm nowhere near "good" at this game, and I probably never will be. But I gotta say, the whole concept is awesome and I find myself coming back to this game regularly. There are times where all I want to do is play this game. The DLC's can get tiresome with the pricing however...

Oh man, am I disappointed in Mafia II Definitive Edition. I saw screenshots on Reddit and was so excited to see that this was going to be made, only to have a piece of unfinished trash put in front of me. Of course the original game was phenomenal. The characters were great, the audio was high quality, and the graphics were top notch for the time.

This "Definitive Edition" is terrible as far as improving on the already amazing game. The graphics are glitchy and unoptimized (RTX 2070 Super had stuttering under full load at 1440p 144hz). The audio was hot garbage. The voices were painful to listen to, and the music was not well balanced.

Gameplay-wise, it stays pretty true to the original but there are glitches that can completely throw you off. In the opening mission a NPC was stuck in a doorway and caused me to virtually push him free with my character. Another example was a complete bug where I got stuck on the steps leading up to the characters home. I can go with moderate graphics and meh audio, but I cannot go with glitchy gameplay in what is supposed to be a "remaster" of the original.

Stay away from this game until they've fixed some issues. Right now it's just bad.

This first section is older, but still important to make note of. To see a more recent and less angry review, go towards the bottom of this review.

As much as I would love to leave a positive review for what seems to be a good game otherwise, I cannot. You may wonder why I'm leaving a review with only about 1 hour of play. It's really even less, because at least 25 minutes were spent in the options menu trying to get the game to run smoothly.

Because of the extreme measures used to prevent piracy, my CPU is pushed to 100% utilization due to the abhorent amounts of DRM layers. Articles have shown that there are FOUR layers of DRM devoted to make sure that you aren't a pirate... that's just plain ridiculous concidering that pirates have and always will, crack DRM's no matter the difficulty. That's just the world we live in. What's worst is that Ubisoft brings it on themselves. Because of the poor performance due to the DRM's, people go to the pirates and get the illegal copies because they run better.

I genuinely enjoyed previous AC entries. Unfortunately though, how can you enjoy a game when you can't even run it properly despite meeting all recommended system requirements? If you buy this, I hope you have a better experience then I've had. I truely want the best experience available to everyone. But be aware that I am not the first, nor the last, to have problems playing this game. Until these issues are fixed, I will not be purchasing any newer game developed by Ubisoft. I'm not going to waste my money.

Cheers and Best of Luck.

Edit: I've decided to give this game another try. If I cannot get the game to run smoothly, I will maintain the negative review. If I can, I will leave a detailed guide on how I did so as well as my specs. It is only through my love of the series and the historical accuracy that I can bring myself to attempt this. Stay tuned.

Edit 2: For those curious, my system is an i5 4460 with 8GB of DDR3 RAM alongside an AMD RX570. My computer has always been able to run newer games just fine since I've upgraded from a GTX 750Ti. The issue doesn't lie in just my components. Yes, the processor is older and thus probably should be upgraded at some point. But the issues I've faced have been seen by other people with even better systems. Do not take the ingame benchmark at face value. A large portion of the game is set outside of a city, not in it from what I can tell.

Aside from adding my specs, I would like to say that after tinkering with settings and just disregarding what the benchmark was telling me I've found AC Origins to be a very playable game. There are still serious drops in FPS when in populated areas. I've experienced similar things in the Witcher 3, but there were options that helped mitigate the issue by changing the NPC settings. GTA V was somewhat of an issue, but was easily fixed with some more tinkering of settings. AC Origins is still the only game that I own in which I find my system dropping to sub-40 framerates and no possible fix other than a hardware upgrade that I can't afford.

Beyond the technical difficulties I've had to deal with in this game, there is a very great world. It is absolutely beautiful. The combat is decent. It reminds me a lot of the Witcher 3, which reminds many people of Dark Souls. I found myself using the alternate control scheme for the xBox 360 controller to play the game as it is more similar to traditional AC combat. If you can get this game to run well, I do indeed recommend it. Also, this game is a very good revitilization of a series that many people gave up on. Lets just hope that Odyssey doesn't have the same DRM crap that Origins has.

TL;DR: Great game, if your system can run it or you're willing to deal with sub-40 FPS in populated areas depending on your CPU. Give it a try, and if you don't like it you can exercise your ability to get a refund.

20 minutes and I'm already recommending it. Just buy the game for goodness sake. You won't regret it.

Aside from the cliche anime style story and dialouge, Valkyria Chronicles is a very unique experience that targets two groups of gaming that for a very long time have been kept seperate from each other. (I say cliche in the best possible meaning.) The gameplay is a combonation of the Third Person Shooter and the Tactical RPG genres. This makes for interesting, albeit somewhat irritating. To give an example, my sniper has a very clear shot of a potential target. A target that, if he doesn't die, will end the mission by destroying my main character's vehicle. Being in a TPS mode, I aim up the shot and pull the trigger. I miss by literally pixels. In most traditional strategy games, I would not have been involved with the aiming and would have had a much smaller margin of error with sure shots. This occurance, however is rather rare and non-intrusive.

The artwork of Valkyria Chronicles is a very eye-catching sketchbook and water color anime style that creates the illusion of seeing the events of the game through a history text book. I for one love the style and find myself looking at some of the artwork online if I'm bored. The voice acting is decent in regards to the English audio. (I don't know about the Japanese audio since I don't speak it.) While the acting isn't Grand Theft Auto or AAA quality, it's perfectly fine for a game that also relies on text based narration.

In regards to the presentation, I would have prefered some more full action cutscenes instead of the overwhelming amount of dialouge that is presented much like an old GBA game. This would have made the story feel much more enjoyable, giving me more time to sit back after a mission that I had trouble completing. (I have a bad habit of not resting between missions, especially in a game I really enjoy.) Another feature that could be very useful for the game is an optional autosave feature. There were many missions that I had almost completed, but due to a tactical error or mispress of some keys on my keyboard, the game would crash or I'd fail the mission. Having an autosave feature would have reduced the amount of rage-quits that I had faced from having to load a save losing 2-3 hours of progress, or having to restart a long and difficult mission.

While it seems that I have said mainly things that have stuck out to me as bad, I must take a moment to say that the game itslef is excellent. The gameplay is challenging, but completable. Casual, yet addicting. I have found myself saying that I'm going to stop playing after this mission, later finding myself an hour later doing another mission. I liken this game to Fire Emblem. The strategy involved and the threat of permadeath is deep. The characters are fun and you come to cheer your team on as they take out long range targets or capture a base that's been allowing the use of your opponents of-screen rockets. The story will make you laugh and make you cry. The music is very good and, although you hear it on loop, is non-intrusive.

Overall, I would give this game an 8/10. The game is worth picking up when on sale and playing through a couple of times. It is best enjoyed with a gamepad because of the comfort over using a kbm. I really enjoy this game and recommend it whoheartedly.

What is there to say about this game aside from "amazing"? I haven't the slightest. Unlike many people, I did not have the pleasure of playing this game until just recently. I had purchased the game last year when there was another large Star Wars game sale. I had tried Jedi Academy, but was a graphics snob at the time so I didn't get furthur that the tutorial. This year I forced my self (pun intended) to play the game in its completion after reading many reviews saying that it was a great experience. I have to say that I agree. The game had excellent gameplay, highly customizable controls, and over-the-top lightsaber gameplay. There were many missions where I didn't use anything but the lightsaber. I have yet to try multiplayer.
Those who are looking for a game to satisfy a Star Wars hunger or are just looking to play an excellent title, Jedi Academy accomplishes it with flying colors. Please purchase this game and enjoy it as much as I did.

Good Lord, where has this game been my whole gaming life?! I don't think I could list all of the overwhelmingly great aspects of this game. The historic accuracy is superb and the gameplay is close to flawless. For the new player, the tutorial gives a basic idea of how to play. If anyone like me tries a skirmish after the tutorial, however, finds a merciless opponent that, unless skilled beyond a beginner's understanding, will completely annihilate you. This, though rather annoying, is insignificant. As I said, the historic accuracy is amazing, and the Operation Overlord campaign will provide many hours of fun and education. If you purchase the other DLC you will get much more content and more options for your army in skirmishes. I have yet to play them, but if they are like the core game, then I will have little to no trouble falling in love with it.

Comparing it to other RTS games is, in my opinion, much like comparing apples to oranges. The cover mechanic is taken from the Dawn of War series and is improved greatly, but loses a little bit of charm found in other franchises such as Command and Conquer and Starcraft. However, it adds a large amount of realism that is missing from its peers, thus many consider Company of Heroes to be more immersive and enjoyable.

The units found in the first four hours of gameplay are historically accurate and are well balanced against enemies under the opponent's control. There are downfalls however. I have played a large amount of World of Tanks and have developed a appreciation for good tank and vehicle gameplay. Some of this is missing from CoH, but for those who just play for a history lesson or just pure enjoyment will find this forgivable.

I hope this helps anyone if they have questions. I plan on featuring this game on my YouTube channel for those who wish for some gameplay. The channel is Chris's Gaming Room, a small channel that I started over the summer. Please check it out if you wish. Happy Gaming.
