I've played this game for about 500 hours, with 300 on Steam and 200 through their own launcher. It's impossible to progress without paying. Without a premium account you'll pay more repair costs for your vehicle dying than the reward for killing another player.

Immersive and really realistic

I have enjoyed playing this game for over 700 hours. Most of the time I played the vanilla version of Arma 3, even though this game has amazing third party and steam workshop support. The visuals in this game look absolutely stunning, the design and graphics have aged pretty well. The campaign takes quite a lot of effort and time, I have come really far in the campaign but thus far not completed it. This is mainly due to two factors. The first, I'm not the best squad leader, especially with how the commanding works in Arma 3 with AI. Second, the AI is genuinly ludicrous.

Gamemodes
Starting off Arma 3 has a lot of gamemodes due to all the modifications that are out there on the Steam Workshop, Armaholic and more. The main gamemodes that are played are: Milsim, Tactical Realism, Roleplay (Altis Life, Takistan Life, Life, Project Life, etc.), gungame, end-game and many more custom gamemodes that are made by the community.

I mostly enjoyed playing roleplay, usually Altis Life with friends. Friends and/or clans are a big part of Arma 3. I must say you can enjoy this without having any friends to play with, but the joy mostly comes in when you play with friends and clans.

Is Arma 3 meant for me?
I could say I enjoyed the game exceptionally, but that's due to my nature. Arma 3 is a military simulation game, and that means it's trying to be realistic. Many people I've talked to over the years of playing this game started out thinking this would be like a regular shooter. Well, let me tell you it really is not. Arma 3 tries to simulate all factors that change your combat capabilities, such as stamina, weapon sway, weigth and injuries. It really does a good job at it too. If you get shot with a high caliber rifle, you can get one shot in any area of your body or bleed out.

This game has one of the best storylines I have ever seen. The storyline doesn't have a big impact on the regular gameplay. But instead u have bigger weapons, more entertainment and more places to visit.

The mod support on this game is enourmous! There are plenty of mod like Watchdogs IV(Changes GTA IV to Watchdogs) or LCPD: FR which changes your character in the world (Criminal -> Police Officer).
These mods can add lots of more playtime.

Since the new update fixed the games for Windows Live bug the game is more accessible. This update has also enhanced performance which is great as now even weaker computers/laptops can play it!

Pros:
- Great storyline
- Good mod support
- Optimized
- Many weapons to choose from
- PC Port is good

Cons:
- Multiplayer isn't fun and full of hackers without a clan or friends.
- Older graphics
- Not the best optimization

I would recommend this game!

8/10
