I genuinely feel scammed by this DLC and the expectations were set fairly high with Survivors of the Void being pretty decent.
The game is a buggy mess now with many visual and gameplay issues. Multishop terminals don't have an outline to show which item you are going to buy sometimes and the items inside of multishops don't have an outline to indicate their rarity like they used to. It looks incredibly odd.

The items all felt pretty uninspired. I haven't tried ALL of them yet but I cannot really recall any that peaked my interest. I have seen some complaints about War Bonds and I'll give it this, there is some idea behind it at least. The worst feeling is entering a stage and seeing several chests around you and having no money to open them with, so you have to waste precious time getting money. However, War Bonds doesn't really give enough money to justify it's status as a red item.

Seeker feels very bland. None of her abilities were really fun to use or had much depth. Chef feels genuinely butchered compared to his RoR1 / RoRR variant. False Son is the only one I had any interest in and even then, they feel... wrong. I can't put my finger on it. To top it all off, all of them only have a singular alt ability. One. Railgunner had 3 and while Void Fiend didn't have any, the difference is that Void Fiend was at least a mechanically deep character on their own. None of the characters are as deep as Void Fiend to warrant the low amount of alt skills. Doesn't help that False Son's alt skill is actually a downgrade considering the sheer power of their standard R.

None of the new stages stood out to me and the Bulwark's Ambry revamp is actually disgusting. I hate the new stage layouts with a passion. None of them are fun to play on and are all gimmicky.



The music is always the saving grace and Chris and Co have done a fantastic job as always. But that is always a given. No complaints there.

Will this get fixed? Maybe. But the fact that it was deemed ok to release something like this in this state is appalling. Do not get this DLC with the current state it is in. Maybe it will be fixed in a week or two, especially since they need to roll out console fixes at the same time most likely, but there is no guarantees. I personally will not be playing any more until this game is fixed or if a friend just wants to play.

Very good game, especially for the price and the fact that this was just an extended gamejam project. My only gripe is that the combat feels very forced sometimes. The movement however, MORE than makes up for this downfall. Combat isn't super common and usually is very short, so it is not a big issue. Movement challenges are everywhere in this game, and the game having a phenomenal movement system really counts. Everything feels very fluid and there were almost no times that I felt like Sybil was out of my control. I still need to do all of the time trials bonus challenges as of writing this, but the ones I have done and the game itself is very good.

I really enjoyed this game throughout the entirety of it and even upon unlocking the achievements. There were some clever puzzles and plenty of fun moments all throughout. The ending especially is very thought provoking and uplifting for plenty of people and it's a message I enjoyed and understood well. I enjoyed the extra side content it had to offer with the challenges, the developer commentary, and the sheer potential of the workshop support and the unique way you can build your own levels. I didn't touch the multiplayer stuff as that isn't something I wanted to do with this game though. The only thing I would really change about the game is just I want MORE. Unfortunately, most of the puzzles aren't super in-depth or challenging, as the focus is more about thinking outside of the box, sometimes literally, than it is about creating a large cohesive puzzle with plenty of parts. However, I do not think the goal of the game was to make exceptionally hard puzzles, which I completely understand and respect that decision.

This game... Confuses me. There is so much going for it but at the same time, so much that just actively works against it. I'm honestly FINE with the blessed runs being the main mode. Honestly, it feels a bit clunky at times, especially when you're in the middle of a boss and you have 10 combo and you get a klobbe, but other than that, I've always liked the blessed runs in ETG. However, my issue lies with the format of the game itself and the playground you are given. Due to the smaller size that you are given to run around in, everything becomes a MASSIVE cluster♥♥♥♥ fast, especially with later bosses. Some attacks do genuinely feel undodgeable, and I have 100%ed ETG so it isn't just purely a lack of skill. I feel like the only way to dodge most things is just to spam the jump dodge since you can stay invulnerable for a LONG time if you chain a jump dodge and a mid air dodge. It's absurd. Generally in ETG, when you enter a room layout you are able to abuse walls, big open spaces, and objects such as tables that are littered around the room to gain an advantage. However, ExTG has very static fighting areas that often times are immensely annoying to play around. But when you get to the indoor areas that ARE bigger areas, the problem flips. The game becomes insanely EASY because many enemies just aren't able to deal with the verticality of the sections and become fodder.

I really wanted to like this game and 100% it. I consider ETG to be one of the best roguelikes out there and I have MANY fond memories of the game. From my first time playing it, to my "clutch" situations such as running out of ammo and being forced to clear Forge with only the marine sidearm, and right up to the end when I finally completed and 100%ed the game. Not much in ExTG gives me that same experience. The only things that do is everything that isn't related to gameplay. I enjoy talking to the characters and the dialogue they give especially. They do feel more fleshed out in this game than ETG in some ways, especially the drunkard and Tailor. I genuinely feel awful for Tailor and some of his lines do hit me a bit harder than they should. But being attached to these characters due to 100%ing ETG has made these things important to me and I am glad they delivered in that department. I am genuinely curious if the game turned out like this due to Apple having interference due to ExTG being an Apple Arcade title at first before being released on other platforms. But who knows.

In conclusion. I wouldn't really recommend this game unless you are a diehard gungeon fan. If you want to get this game because you heard that the original was good, I am sorry to say that it does not hold a candle to it.

It's good. I enjoy a lot about this game. It has it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moments occasionally with some jank physics, AI, and the entirety of unfortunate devlopment, but I feel like the rest of the game far overshadows these flaws.

Steam is stupid and forces me to make a review or else this annoying button sits in my face all day. Good game, I do enjoy it a ton. The Fast enemies are a complete pain to take care of though.

As the game is right now, I would highly recommend it. Despite there not being as many items as many traditional rogue likes, there are still many characters with unique play styles and item interactions that can make every run different and exciting. Only thing I would say other than just adding more content in general, which is clearly being provided, just some Quality of Life changes. Quick restart being the biggest one.

Edit: Since then, SoTV has released and honestly my complaints haven't changed and my complaints have grown a little bit. There still is no quick restart, there still is no way to save and quit. The game has a ton of small little bugs caused by being in unity. I would still recommend the game, it's just I don't think it is as polished as it should be.

Very well crafted game. Early on you can struggle, but unlike many roguelites where unlocking more items will help you get further, you can easily get further just by skill alone.
