this game seems to be using denuvo, yet they're not announcing it on the steam page. Pretty sure this is against EU law. EDIT: Seems they updated their steam page to show that they do indeed use Denuvo.

TL;DR The game is fun for it price tag if you approach it like a early alpha stage game that's prone to large scale changes and accounts being partially wiped of progress or potentially completely wiped (with plans of changing into a seasonal game in the near future) Like any client sided games, cheating is possible we've seen cases of people editing their levels and it sticking to the game, but with your interaction with other players being limited to teleportation links that you click on inside a chat box, it shouldn't matter much until more competitive elements gets added to the game.

The good.

For it price tag of around 10$ depending on the country you're from, it delivers enough entertainment to justify it cost.
It's developer and the volunteers supporting it continues to develop the game over time.
It's a browser game made in Javascript that can be both accessed via browser and steam client with future plans for a mobile app.

The game is overflowing with potential, if only a small portion of it gets tapped, it could become a gem.

The bad.

Calling it multiplayer is a bit of a stretch, it a single player game with a chat where you can share locations via a link that others can click on to teleport to. So if you find something your friend is looking for, you can send them a link to it and they can teleport to you and fight or harvest whatever you found. Everything else is basically a single player experience.

The game is heavily client sided, meaning that you'll never know if the person who you're talking to climb got to their level legitimately or by editing the game files.

The dev 2 main goals appears to be making the game competitive and seasonal and bringing in a mobile app. The second one, is not a bad thing; however the first may be tricky considering the nature of the game being heavily client sided.

The UgLy.

```Infinite World
World Seed features an infinite world which is procedurally generated. Its content is renewed every hour.``` Is a bit misleading, It's true the world is procedural generated, however a 'suicide' wall appears at around 150 and grows taller the more you progress, but if you somehow manage to get pass that, the distance between the next ring grows ever larger until it would theoretically take months of walking in 1 direction to reach the next one.
Lastly, the game as frequent 'squishes' akin to partial wipes, or nerfing player levels or inventory. In 'classic' the dev decided to cut the player seed inventory by 1/3 by forcing the player to combine the old ones to make level 1 seeds of the new one. During the giant update players progress was squished again, mostly effecting those who where at the higher levels 150s losing over half their levels and a huge chunk of their progress, dropping down to 70. Then afterwords in a lack of foresight, a player managed to progress quicker then the dev intended, squishing him down from 130 to 70, then a few hours later, he did it again to anyone who had managed to progress pass 70, bringing them down back to 70. Now a few weeks later another player who wary of being squished hid their level by only upgrading their gear, not their HS (account level). Until they eventually reached a spot where the game balance tipped into the players favour, suicide builds became cheap and the player could slam into the wall of death with reflect damage shield being the only expensive item to craft until they eventually killed the monster. And by being in the player's favour, the odds where about 1/6 that the player would die. They decided to clear a 'soulless' and increase their HS (account level) to where they really where, only to be squished back down to 70, (To be fair, I belive they kept their item levels, and only loss account levels but the player has never logged back in so I don't know for sure. The reflect damage being nerfed was nerfed to the ground preventing players who reach that point from progressing that way. This makes it obvious that anyone progressing pass the unofficial wall using official means will be dealt with by having their progression slashed back down and any method they discovered be nerfed away.
I personally reached the early 100s and will be putting the game down until future down the line. There's no real difference between ring 1 or 100 besides the size of the level and how much walking it takes to reach the next one.
worth the 1$ i paid for. a interesting game where you jump around between units in first person mode. controls where clearly design for console but the keybinding works (Z open the special menu to spawn units and X is cancel for missions or game mode that supports it). but overall the game is pretty fun and definitely worth the 1$
--disclamer i played a lot of this game before i bough it.
the bad..
the UI and map can be painful for learn the graphics are dated....
but once you get past that you will see the diamond that is SOTS. while everyone sings the praises that is Moo i singed the praises that is SOTS.
the good
Asymetrical balance is the name of the game. (and every race feels incredably unique)
-diffrent traveling mechanics for every faction that feels unique for each race. check.
-diffrent hardpoint position and ship section stat for every faction as well as some faction unique stuff. check
-diffrent odds of getting diffrent research as well as diffrent research speed per faction? yup
-if you fail to get something when you research you might be blocked off from everything afterwards and have to get someone to help you learn it or revese engineer it from your enemies.
-balance mechanic to stop the guy sitting in a corner while the other 2 players kill each other from dominating. check (NPC monsters are more likely to hit the more passive players)
-humans are not the avrage joes of the galaxy
-the game focuses more on research/ship design/fleet design/battle so planet management is simplified to 2 sliders. (and it works well)
-each race as a lot of lore behind them.
fun fact. you can boost your trade with a alien race by devloping drugs specifically for there species. crippling there production but boosting your trading income.
************************ every race feels unique and i can't stress this enough.
unlike every other space game where each race is basically the same with diffrent stat modifiers SOTS makes them all feel bloody unique. now if only they would make a remaster....
long live the morigi.
bad. some of the flaws. unlocking some stuff may take ages and general mode for germany is like waiting for your turn at a goverment building getting number 2048 and looking at the wall and seeing "now serving number 1002".
good the new armor update makes playing tanks fun. your biggest treat now is other tanks. not bob on a bycle or motor cycle trying to get close to you to basically 1 hit ko you with grenades.
the new armor system making tank combat more arcady (takes a lot more then 4 seconds to kill a tank now) and changes to when tanks unlock HE rounds makes it so tanks tend to focus on trying to kill other tanks instead of hiding somewhere far away and sniping people and tanks making you less likely to be spawned camped by tanks.
overall once you have a few soldiers and find yourself a bit more established i have yet to find a better combined arms game.
