This game goes hard.

I used to be a huge Dragon Ball and Budokai Tenkaichi fan back when I was a teenager.
I grew out of anime entirely as i became older, but did get a bit of hype when i saw the first trailer release about this game.

The gameplay feels nostalgic. The difficulty is pretty damn insane at times. Prepare to get your butt kicked.

Tip: Practice for a few hours with that pickle-guy, learn all there is before starting the story mode or online battles.

As you can see on my profile at my achievements: I have played this game for hours during launch and season 1 when i tried Ubisoft+ for once (I played 3 full games for only 15 bucks).
Saw it release on steam on sale. So i wanted to check if it got any better.

Is it better? No.

How hard is it to make a pirate MMORPG? You had a fantastic blueprint with AC4. Yet you only took the ship battles out of it and gave rules and restrictions... Let that sink in: Rules and restrictions in a PIRATE game.
You cannot explore, steal, gamble or anything that pirates do. At least Sea of Thieves got that aspect right.

- Boring and repetitive gameplay
- Grindy
- Misses so many marks on what could make a great pirate game
- The direction is garbage as they added dragons, torpedoes, rockets and magical trails and neon colored ships

Refund pending.

Kinda nuts that this is F2P.

- Not forcing Microtransactions (I even had trouble finding the shop) No pop-ups or spam about the shop aswell.
- Tons to do
- Picks gameplay from different genres
- It is free, so no excuse not to try it

It's alright.

Early game sucks, but when u get better bike upgrades and better weapons it is way more fun.
Story was mediocre but i'm kinda sad that they will never follow up on the secret ending.

The one thing that i really couldn't like was the main character, his script and his personality at times.
You'll hear a lot of: Name... Name.... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Early Access Review
After playing V Rising I was on the lookout for another game to sink 100hrs in, saw this on sale and gave it a shot.

First of all: this game really misses it´s marks on some key gameplay quality. Feels very early access compared to V Rising when it came out before the fully released version. I´m only level 7 after 10 hrs and wanted to give a negative review already. I just alt-f4 the game because i died of something which i will adress down below.

Cons:
- Stamina: Gathering takes away a chunk of your stamina. So after slamming your pickaxe 5 times, you gotta wait a 6 sec-ish for it to come back. Frustrating, while i´m waiting i just stare to some poorly made textures or i have to alt tab and do something else.

- AI Enemies don´t make noises at all except from a short few who grunt when they see you, so get ready to get jump scared because they apparently don´t make noises when running up to you away from vision.

- The Inventory system in this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it´s hard to navigate through your boxes. They should add storages like in V Rising where you put the materials that have the same use (stone, copper, woord) in one box so it´s sorted out. Then you have your personal bag which is just insanely tiny and you get to decide what to DELETE, not throw away on the ground but to delete an item, not knowing if you need it or if it is important later down the line. Also an issue that i had with v rising was that you needed to have the materials on you in order to craft something, it´s really dumb.

- Exploration: On the fence on this one, your map doesn´t show roads, at all, so if you want to head a bit into the unknown, you just have to make a leap of faith on top of a tower and glide towards it, hoping you don´t have to pickaxe your way out of some mountains, and as we all know, pickaxing in this game with this stamina system... There is no sense of direction except in the beginning. The traversal in this game is so bad, this is why i died, falling and gliding randomly from a high building, far away from a respawn point. You are like a piece of butter when you run up a steep hill of try to jump up a mountain.

The leveling and dying: I am so confused, that I as a lvl 3-4 player was encouraged to do quests in lvl13 areas, i lost the count of the amount of times i died. Frustrating as that is, YOU LOSE ALL YOUR BUFFS WHEN DYING, SO THAT MEANS YOUR STAMING REGEN AND HP ARENT THERE ANYMORE ... W T F and you get to walk all the way back to retrieve your loot.

Pros:

- You get to combine and try different sorts of combat, you can be a hunter, mage, tank, warrior, and more niche play styles.

- Gliding, swinging. grappling and some perks like the double jump are amazing.

- Combat is fine

Hopefully this changes in the future, but for now it isn´t worth playing.

Played almost 3 times through the story and always end up getting high honor in the end because this game really likes to kick you in the nuts for all the bad stuff you do.

Truly a masterpiece, but it has one flaw.

The first half of the game is perfect, well crafted and so much fun. But at a certain point in the story, it takes a depressive turn that also makes it less fun to play. I really had to push through chapter 5 and 6 because it just wasn´t that engaging anymore.

The missions have become stale because it suffers of the same structure over and over again. I always tell myself that i will not rush this game when starting a new playthrough, take my time, explore and never fast travel, but after chapter 4 i just didn`t have it in me. Maybe that´s the point of it? Who knows.

All and all, it is and will always be the best game i´ve ever played.

Early Access Review
Early access, and it shows. But there are some good things.

+ Foundation is strong
+ Progression is good but not diverse
+ Pals are wonderfully animated and have personality
+ Gameplay is pretty good - catching pals IS FUN
+ Multiple ways to use your pals, combat to breeding to building to riding
+ Building is fine, but it needs more variety!

- Art direction is weird, i'd like to see more of an improvement on identity. So far only the pals and your own character scream 'palworld', but the rest of the world just seems like an unreal engine template.
- The animations for some of the actions you do are bad
- Bad performance issues.
- It gets boring after a while
- Exploring isn't fun because of the soulless landscapes with nothing in them except the occasional bandit camps or clusters of pals
- The different pal elemental types don't really feel like they make a difference, you can see big damage numbers, but i think showing it through the effects and damage the opposing pal takes would make it more impactful. Show don't tell.

This review sounds negative but i still recommend it because it is early access and it has so much potential to become a fun survival game.

As someone who played a fair amount of games, to a point where i'm too bored with other titles; I was looking for something that gave me the same feelings as skyrim and minecraft did years ago.

After buying and refunding a ton of games because i couldn't bother playing longer than 30 min and saw this title pass by a few times. I finally got the courage to pick up this controversial title.

Is everything fixed since launch?
short answer? Almost.

I'll just give the pro's and con's:

Pro's:
- Visually i'm a bit on the fence, it can look very nice but sometimes it just looks ugly. So mixed about it...
- gameplay is pretty much the same as Fallout 4
- You can play alone or with other people, the public events are cool and you must join them, people give out free effect bonuses, you can get 4 free levels just by standing near, shoot enemies once and get a ton of exp. Always go into a party! You are not forced to play together but you'll get bonus exp, money and sometimes high level players in your party will come to help you or give you some stuff. Tip: use your teammates C.A.M.P's as fast travel points.
- Buying Atoms (microtransactions) doesn't change your experience, you can ignore it (you can even earn them just by doing challenges)
- The base building is amazing, i wasn't sure i would like it but it's plain and simple and i can't wait to make torture chambers.
- The quests, NPC's, Holo-tapes, Lore stuff (that weren't a thing at launch) are engaging (would give this game up without it).
- Easy to pick up and easy to understand.
- Amazing community, you'll see players with high levels walk up to you and give you a ton of free stuff. (Even now at level 52 i still get free donations, awesome!)
- So much to do, so much to see. I have currently 39 hours, level 52 and i'm not even that far into the main stories. It's open world is distracting to keep exploring.

Con's:
- It's a clunky mess sometimes, the enemies act very weird and sometimes are slow or jump scare you instantly because they get quickly in your face.
- Visuals bug out sometimes, but not that distracting
- Bugs: NPC's teleporting, ragdolls freaking out on the floor (can't hate that, it's funny af), random (fall) damage even when standing still in your own CAMP.
- poorly optimized, getting 120 fps in closed instances but sometimes down to 34 fps in the open world?
- World feels empty sometimes, only up to 20 people on a server can feel pretty lonely.
- The game doesn't offer a tutorial or keeps stuff away from you if you have 0 knowledge of Bethesda games, so keep a web browser open just in-case.
- No karma system, or maybe there is? I killed a few random npc's and nothing really happens.
- No chat feature? wth? It's a multiplayer game but you can't communicate with other players? What?
- Carry weight is the truly end-game. Half of my perk points go towards them, so i can't focus on fun builds because i need to use up my cards so i can carry more food for example. You can charge extra money to give yourself extra carry weight FOR ONLY 30 MIN! Don't do it.

All in all, i can't really tell you if i can recommended or not. I like it so far and it seems that it keeps getting updated.
I kinda wished that Elder Scrolls Online was more like this instead of the MMORPG that we got.

If you like fallout and skyrim and you want that experience again, pick it up.

Bought this game on sale. Played for three days straight. And just like in-game; it feels like a year has gone by since the last time i sat up from my chair.

10/10, gave me hemorrhoids.
