1: Disco Elysium
A wonderful, sprawling one-in-a-million miracle from near-death alcoholics. A breathing manifesto on failure and resolve, the difficult and thankless work of self care, and mere survival in a world falling to pieces. True beauty.
2: Kentucky Route Zero
A poem in the form of a video game, and by result my favorite poem. It resonates with me so strongly that I know I'll be thinking about it for the rest of my life.
3: LISA
My former absolute favorite game due to the large amount of effort on the part of the developer as well as disregarding the limitations of its RPGMaker shell and ascend into an amazing project that I can't shut up about. Boldy makes your protagonist an unglamorous addict unlike its more gutless quirky earthbound inspired RPG brethren.
4: Fallout: New Vegas
One of the best overall games of all time, an amazing investigation of roleplaying, shooty fun, humor, examination of the nature of man, and so much more that combines into one of the best RPGs that actually engage you in the gameplay.
5: Bastion
The game that kicked off my love of story based games and lilt towards arty games with one-shot stories. I played this game when I was young and it instilled a love of story based video games and cemented video games in my life for good.
