Hearts of Iron 4 is a game, that I've found myself to be playing quite a lot. Addicting and fun, but at times tends to be infuriating and cruel. From a few hours of exploring to being the most played game on this Steam-account, I can recommend the game to all fans of the genre.

It is you average Paradox strategy game, based around maps and troop movement. The base game is very enjoyable on its own, but the DLC do bring some extra flavor to it with the new mechanics they introduce, and the new alternate history elements they bring.

Austria-Hungary in 1939? They got it covered. Qing dynasty in 1942? That too.

Fight trough the second world war. Lead Germany to victory and lebensraum, or achieve communism in one country. Conquer the Pacific with Japan, or nuke Italy as Switzerland. Plenty of things to do, lands to conquer and seas to rule.

Do note that learning the basics of the game is a time-consuming process, and mastering the game takes even more time. I personally have close to a 1000 hours in the game and still learn new things. Use the tutorials available on the internet to your advantage, or try to learn as you go.

I'll see you on the frontlines, commander!

Solid 8.5/10
