You'll love this game if you enjoyed Shadow of Mordor's nemesis system.

This game is such a nice refreshing take on the roguelike formula. The extra dimensions added to the game of having to avoid being gobbled up by the sweeping darkness that is constantly moving closer and closer makes for an exciting and (at times) extremely tense run. Add onto that the "dark lord" timer that's perpetually ticking away, which will launch you into a boss battle well before you're prepared, forcing some incredibly tense moments which make the escape and later victory that much more satisfying. Besides those unique twists, the rest of the game is pretty standard and is what you'd expect from a graphical roguelike such as this one. There's a really nifty multiplayer-like integration into the game, wherein the progress, accomplishments and eventual downfalls of the people playing on the same seed as you are periodically popping up as you play, and you can even run into the ghosts of dead players, receiving some minor benefit. The soundtrack for the game is great, really good old school rpg nostalgia quality to it. I have some small gripes about the interface and the way the menus are done, but it doesn't detract from the game in any major way. Overall, I think this is a fun game that's well worth picking up, especially on sale as it's already pretty cheap.

Early Access Review
*Update: DLC is extremely worth it, adding tons of replay value. Still one of my favourite games to come back to.*

Fantastic game! Really a shinning example of an early access game done right. All about making the best of the worst situations that you come across your mercenary band.
+Good soundtrack.
+Devs seem to be hard at work, dilligently bumping out content and always keeps everyone in the loop as to what they're working on to improve the game and balance everything properly.
+Each type of enemy offers a unique challenge, forcing you to adapt.
+Different fighting line strategies such as shield/spear walls, using hammers to break enemy shields, polearms that can attack from the backrow, ranged weaponry of all kinds and even hunting dogs to chase fleeing enemies or pesky marksmen.

Coming from someone who's never really enjoyed the GTA series, I found this one to be a really fun experience. Really good gripping storylines and the heists are great. There's a bit of everything for everyone in this game, including the online which is hit and miss in terms of who you play with but adds tons of playtime.

By far my favourite game of the year. The fantastic qualities of this game far outweigh the flaws. Don't listen to the angry tryhards complaining about soul memory or the lack of invasions in NG. Sure, Soul memory isn't a perfect system, but i've adjusted to it, and didn't let it effect what a wonderful game this is. This game really starts to shine in NG+ though, when the invasions really kick it up a notch. If you're not interested in waiting that long just hop into the bell tower or rat king covenants! I'd stay out of the arenas if I were you...
