Reminiscent of early Minecraft Caving, with better graphics and traumatising weather.

Top notch voice acting, mature storylines, ridiculous plots, massive replayability, no DLC, no forced multiplayer, dungeon bashing, cussing like a sailor who dropped a hammer on his foot and with more memes than Reddit.

Early Access Review
Aesthetic: Wonderful
Gameplay Loop: Great
Theme: Great

So why no plus? After a bit you find that the pathfinding is off, the boosts are difficult to understand and the general gameplay takes way more brain power and co-ordination that you'd ever get back in results.

In a Civ game, this would be the core of gameplay videos, but in an Idle game it's an anathema.

If one wrongly placed building can shut down my entire city through a bottleneck - then it's not an Idle game. So, the game is less about building and more about getting round the GUI - which isn't fun.

It's good - it's really well done and thought out and follows a very thought provoking SCP-type storyline -

And then it diverges...

Halfway through, it turns from investigative to constant gunplay and platforming against unfair enemies with no help. There's certain bosses that require full powerups to even withstand - and there's no rhyme/reason to beating them. Also, the NPCs seem to have stepped out of Always Sunny as they're ratbags to a point.

I quite enjoy the game up to that halfway stage - after that, you're fighting the control system or the controls or the UI to stay alive - what idiot thought that putting you in a dark maze with no torch was a good idea?

So - wasted potential - really fun until Dylan - then just switch off as it nosedives into grindcore.

If you have a wallet that just needs emptying, WB have a game for you. Full of different currencies to spend on seeing comics done almost as well as they were for cheaper. WOW at the sub-standard voice artists. SHOCK at the pricing structure. YAWN at the constant hand-holding.

It feels as bad as most of the other mobile games, and nothing worth your time or money. DCUO is more fun and cheaper.

It's not that it's bad or good, it's just there's way better.

You finish each mission with the thought "Well Done Commander, you pushed the right buttons to win." - there's no attachment, no understanding and very little help.

Your starting units to 8 Assault damage - is that a lot? a little? should I immediately upgrade? What can I upgrade? How do I upgrade? : Even after 16 hours, I still feel...there's better to play - so no, I can't recommend it.

If you're reading this, you have already been abducted into one of the conspiracies. Not the crazy ones that consist of Morons running the Country, but the real ones.

You will know of Robert Anton Wilson's Book that lead to the 80s Card Game that lead to the 90s CCG, that lead to the 2020 re-release. Hail Bob!

You will not be aware of the FBI raiding the headquarters of the people that made it. They never did that. Remember that. It will keep you alive.

There were never cards that predicted 9/11 and Princess Di's death. That never happened.

What did happen was the precursor to Magic : The Gathering where shadowy organisations took control of everything: Bending the power of Chernobyl to take control of the Kremlin via Frankenfoods. IT NEVER HAPPENED.

Play the game, relive all three decades of conspiracies - and never, NEVER mention the Purple Dinosaur.

What can be said about Dwarf Fortress that isn't already chiseled into the walls of Boatmurdered with menacing spikes?
It's brutally hard, it's also loving and giving and you'll be playing a game that predates Steam itself - and has been worked on all that time.

Strike the Earth!
