My favorite part is when Handsome Jack walked in and jacked his handsomeness all over the place.

On a serious note, this is the best Borderlands game imo. What it lacks in content and levels, it makes up for in story, atmosphere, and character. If BL3 had half as good of a story that this game has, then BL3 could be the best one. It wouldn't be the best one though because (controversial opinion incoming) Clap Trap is the most funnest character you can play in any classed based shooter, hands down. Having an "oh ♥♥♥♥" panic button that restores your health and causes a wacky ability to happen that will kill all of the enemies and/or you in 2 seconds is addicting. It gets even better in coop when theses abilities can affect your teammates and you can high five too.

8/8 would let an Australian high five me again.

Early Access Review
I like what JackFrags said about this game

"If you just turn your brain off, it feels like you are playing Battlefield 2 or 3"

This game has problems like any other early access game out today, but every problem this game has are all problems Battlefield 2 and 3 had back in the day (weapon balance is very rock paper scissors, it doesnt matter if you have 126 teammates because one guy hiding in a corner can capture a point by himself, and not all the maps are perfect) but idc because I love it and I'm here for it.

gr8 game 8/8 m8

TlDr; this game brings many new additions to the dead rising franchise, but maybe not for the better. Still worth $20.

I know many people who play DR2 but refuse to play DR1 because of the "increased difficulty" that game has. Sure there are many modern accesibility features that DR2 added that do make the game easier (or even playable as some people would put it): an actual half competent survivor ai system, being able to walk while aiming your gun, a sandbox mode to level up your character without feeling pressured. But what I think most people don't realize about the Dead Rising franchise is that the game is hard in the same way Dark Souls is hard.

Dark Souls is only a tough game if you let it be a hard game. If you are doing anything else besides playing as a knight and putting all your points into health/stamina/carry weight/strength then you are playing the game on hard mode. DR1 is much the same way. In DR1, if you don't stop at the gunstore before meeting brad, memorize where all the hidden Uzi's spawn, never use mixed drinks, and don't grab the mini chainsaws with the 3 books so they can last 2700 zombie kills, then you are playing DR1 on hard mode.

My biggest complaint about DR2 is that the "choose your own difficulty" part of the game just gets more complicated with the addition of combo weapons. It's possible to beat DR1 just by using baseball bats, knives, and handguns that you find off zombies and in trashcans. It isn't possible to do that in DR2 without slamming your head into a wall. Instead of just memorizing where the micro uzi's spawn, you are trying to memorize where flashlights and gems spawn so you can make a decent melee weapon. Instead of just memorizing where cop zombies spawn, you are memorizing where pitchforks and teddy bears spawn to get the most out of your guns.

All in all, I would say DR2: OtR is just as hard of a game as DR1, just for different reasons. Don't let either of the game's difficulty stop you from enjoying 2 of the best zombies game ever created.

Tl;Dr: You can't call yourself a gaymer unless you played this game. This game had been on my bucket list of games I wanted to try out for over a decade, and now that I finally tried it, my only regret is I didn't play this 10 years sooner. This game's one goal is to be a life simulator/detective novel/Pokemon game, and it does all those things perfectly.
A warning to anyone about to buy this game. This game is not for the weak of heart. Despite this game being covered with robots, magic, and rainbows, this game also covers many adult topics. These adult topics can get awkward once you realize that all the characters in this game are high schoolers. Despite that, the story is just so real that these events and scenarios could really happen to anyone. I put a spoiler warning below, it shows some character details, but nothing of how the game ends.
There's a guy who's parents own a Wal-Mart and everyone hates him for destroying local businesses.
A girl who wanted to become friends with powerful people so she could be powerful herself.
A popstar who wishes they just became a stripper instead because that would be easier.
A tough punk who is gay only because women are intimidating and guys are easier to hangout with.
A detective who struggles to balance work and family, and the effects it has on family.
A crossdresser who can't accept who they are until the moment they open up and make friends.
A lady who thought she only needed one thing in life to be happy, but after getting it she realized how wrong she was.
A daughter who's dad came back after a 16 year trip to pick up cigarettes and is now on his death bed.
A trauma victim who can't/won't remember the past.
A brother who's sister committed suicide and/or murder victim and struggles to continue living life without her.
A lover who's one love in life also committed suicide and/or murder victim and right before she did it, she told him how much she hated the lover.
And one Teddy who is on a never ending existential rollercoaster on where he came from.

Half of this game is life simulator, and every character is written to perfection. Every person in this game feels like a real person I've either met before, or could relate to myself. The moment I realized this games genius was during the school camp out because it was that moment when I wished I played this game a decade ago.
>Be me, high school 2015, best friend invites me to swim at lake
>Don't want to swim at lake just us two that would be gay
>Idea: bring girls uwu
>We each bring a pair of girls, no way we can't score
>Girls come and be girls. They didn't bring bathing suits and didn't even want to hang out, they just wanted the instagram photos
>Best friend came prepared for this moment
>Best friend opens a bag full of bikinis he spent a whole paycheck on hoping he had the right size. I'll say it again, I wish I played this game a decade ago because this went just as well for us irl as it did for the protagonist in the game. This game could of warned me, but instead it reminded me of how much I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.
You have 100% right to hate this game for sexualizing high schoolers because this game certainly does that, yet I believe the adult themes just make this game that more real. Lets be real with ourselves gaymers, who wasn't a horny teenager who had ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up things happen to them on a regular basis when they were in high school.
Oh and the turn based combat is actually pretty fun ngl. Honestly the main reason I avoided this game for so long is because I hate turn based combat.
"Turn based combat is for people who are to slow to play StarCraft"
-VideoGameDunkey
Yet this game has so much random ♥♥♥♥ going on all the time I can't hate it. 10/10 must play game for all citizens of gaymer nation.

TLDR;
Should you play the OG Dead Rising when Dead Rising 2, 2.5, 3, and 4 exist
Answer: Absolutely Yes

The best advice I can give anyone about to hop into this game is you need to understand what this game is. If you are looking for a streamlined, campaign similar to Dead Island or Dying Light that you can beat in 8 hours, then turn around now because that is not what this game is and you will not have fun. If you look at this game as a rouge-lite where every run takes 8 hours to complete and every time you restart you are more powerful and more knowledgeable of the map and enemies, then you will have a lot more fun in this game.

Is the OG Dead Rising really the best one?
Comparing Dead Rising 1 and 2 is like comparing Killing Floor 1 and 2
Killing Floor 2 is in every way a superior video game, however something got lost between games. Killing Floor 1 is a horror game. Everything from the enemies, environments, character dialogue combined together to deliver a chilling experience. Yes Killing Floor 2 has more guns, enemies, maps, but at the end of the day Killing Floor 2 feels more like CoD: Nazi Zombies then it does Killing Floor 1

Dead Rising 2/2.5 is the superior video game.
-More weapons
-More places
-More vehicles
-More collectibles
-More zombies
-Survivor AI isn't completely broken
-Less likely to get 1 shotted
-Zombies don't *teleports behind you* "Nothing personal, kid" and stun lock you into oblivion.

But Dead Rising 1 has something none of the others have, and that is horror. This game was made 15 years ago, yet there is not another video game out there that gives me the chills like this game. For the first 15-30 minutes, the game doesn't even give you any weapons. All you have is your camera which awards bonus xp if you take pictures of brutally, horrifying moments. This game is evil and forces you to be witness of the horrors going on around you because you are Frank West.

Also for some reason my computer runs the OG Dead Rising 10x better than it does 2 or 2.5.
If that alone is not a reason to buy it then I can't help you

10/10 game, would Frank West again.

When you buy a dlc but you can't really tell what it actually adds into the game. Bring back being able to summon Cthulhu.

TlDr; If you are looking for the steam review that is going to tell you if you will like this game or not, don't read this one, read any of the 100's of other negative steam reviews written by people with 1000-2000-3000+ hours in the game and they will tell you the same things I'm about to tell you.

This game is kind of awesome
It's Diablo meets WoW, in fact I would say Lost Ark is more fun then both of those games.
Combat is tight and streamlined.
The world you can explore is large.
Some people hate the cheesy story but it does the job and makes you feel like a badass.
Every role is actually fun to play.

Wait why is this review negative?
It's funny really, Amazon has here one of the best MMO's ever created, and yet they don't want anyone to play it. If you decide to create a new character now and spend the next 20-40 hours grinding to beat the main story, you will encounter more bot players then actual human players. That is not a joke. It has been a problem since launch and is still a problem one year later. With my 100 hours I have 6 characters across 2 different servers and I've probably seen almost 1,000 bots. One night I logged off after completing this quest that gave me access to the first big major city and there was a bot that just completed it with me. I logged on the next morning and I saw the same bot running around and he had just beaten the game. TBH Amazon advertising this as an MMO should be considered false advertising. If these bots are real players then Skyrim is a better MMO.

I could talk about the awful late game grind
Or the awful premium prices
Or the rigged auction houses
Or the house building gacha mobile game
Or the fact that you might get banned for no reason

But don't listen to me, listen to the 100's of other people with 1000's of hours in the game.
