Kill bugs and robots with friends, what's not to like. Servers mostly work now.

Update 10/03/10

The new patch came out to address many of the bugs and technical issues, and I have to say they did a great job. The game was quite broken for me before, but now if I load my old saves all the quests work again. Moreover, it seems they took care of the game crashes and many of the conversations and locations load a lot faster now. In its current form, this game is definitely worth a purchase. Every RPG fan ought to give this game a try, it's truly immersive and has a great story of political and military intrigue mixed with humor and drama.

Post-release review:

This game is just horrible to play right now because of performance issues. Constant FPS drops, texture popping, guards walking around without heads, horrible collission detection, impossible lockpicking, bad load times (even on SSD). They should have released it 6 months later in order to optimize it better. Which is a shame, because it really has the potential to be a great story-driven RPG experience.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: You have allowed this dark lord to twist your mind, until now, until now you've become the very thing you swore to destroy.

Anakin Skywalker: Don't lecture me, Obi-Wan! I see through the lies of the Jedi. I do not fear the dark side as you do. I have brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new Empire.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Your new Empire?

Anakin Skywalker: Don't make me kill you.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Anakin, my allegiance is to the Republic, to democracy.

Anakin Skywalker: If you're not with me, then you're my enemy.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: [realizing that Anakin is consumed by evil and there's no reasoning with him anymore] Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

[draws his lightsaber]

Obi-Wan Kenobi: I will do what I must.

Anakin Skywalker: You will try.

[draws his lightsaber and confronts Obi-Wan]

This will probably become the last good game bioware created. It actually played like an RPG and required you to think about how to allot skill and ability points and how to use use party members effectively together in a strategic way. All other games they made after this one were incredibly dumbed down for consoles in every aspect. There are many mods available to enhance the graphics and gameplay to make it feel less dated. I suggest you buy this game instead of DA:I, because you will derive infinitely more enjoyment from it.

If you're the kind of person that enjoys having to use basic algebra in order to calculate the best build for your RPG characters, this game is for you. Unlike most modern RPGs there is no voice-acting so you'll actually have to read dialogues. You also have to actually read quests entries to figure out where to go and you need basic orientation skills. All in all I would say that most people born in the late 90s or 2000s should probably stay away from this game because they lack the cognitive skills required to play this game. If you do however have basic scholastic skills, this game is quite an enjoyable RPG experience that requires meticulous planning and use of tactics to beat it at the higher difficulty settings. Most of you are probably too stupid to appreciate it though.
