It's... alright.

It's nothing spectacular or does anything new (which unfortunately doesn't make the mod memorable at all), it's really just an average HL2 mod with some custom sounds, va and music, nothing heaps special.

But hey, it's obvious that the person put time into this and was able to finish it unlike many mods, so there's that. It personally just didn't really hit it right with me, felt more like a mod that you both wouldn't lose nor gain anything from if you did or didn't play it. It's just kinda there. Idk, maybe my standards are too high for mods that go onto steam these days? Anyway...

(God I really wish there was a "Mixed" recommendation button) I'm sorry, but I can't recommend this to people who, like me, are looking for mods that do new, interesting and memorable things to engage the player and make their time feel well spent and feel as if they would've missed out on something special if they were not to play it.

However, I can recommend this to people who are just simply craving for any decent HL2 maps to play.

Give it a go. You won't lose anything if you don't play it, but you won't gain anything either if you do play it. (again wished there was a "Mixed" recommendation button)

Hello fellow online user! You appear to have stumbled upon my review about Entorpy : Zero, a HL2 mod that consists of you playing as a regular Civil Protection Unit who has been stranded in the resistance infested streets and the zombie infested subway tunnels, along with a combine structure overrun by the Vortigaunts! Welcome, to City 10 and prepare yourself for a heck of a time, this mod will kick your ass.

Entropy : Zero is a mod you don't usually see on steam or out in the online community, playing as a unit from the combine, whether it be a soldier, elite or in this case a civil protection unit, its not very common. However, might I note, this is I believe the first combine perspective mod to actually make its way onto steam!

So, if you've been dwelling on the mod's steam page, you may have noticed the negative reviews. I don't blame them, this mod (like I said above) will kick your ass if you're not on your guard and not the first to react and shoot your weapon. Alot of areas need fixing up or polishing, but luckily the developer has not given up on the mod! The mod is soon to get patches and I believe some expansion! But enough of me rambling about... whatever I was rambling on about, let me get onto this review! :D

------------------------------------------ R E V I E W ------------------------------------------

Entropy : Zero is a very difficult mod, it consists on you playing as a pretty squishy CP just like HL2, so you will take hell of alot of damage if you're not carefull. It's not like regular HL2, being an orange tank being able to absorb alot of damage, the mod by default sets you on Hard difficulty (which isn't impossible to complete might I add and is the true way to play) and from what I've noticed is the only difficulty that has been modified to make you feel like a CP, so if you have 100% health, one bullet from an enemy smg will hurt, alot. It will make your health drop by 25% or so, very punishing (so if you have full health which is 100, you'll be on 75 health or so and that depends if you have armour or not). Don't worry though, if you don't want to die so much you can be one of those guys and set the difficulty to Normal or Easy which will assist you alot (might I add, alot of reviews over exaggerate the Normal and Easy difficulties, saying that its nothing different compared to Hard, however that's not the case. It's like if you were playing hl2 again, except you're fighting rebels and vortigaunts, which will do more damage compared to your regular soldiers and cps from hl2).

The mod also tries to teach the player not to rush into combat, you will get yourself killed very very quickly if you do so. You gotta stay low, get behind cover and shoot whatever. This is something alot of players do, which is rush into combat and then complain that the mod is too hard. You're suppose to think about what you're doing and how you're going to avoid getting yourself killed instead of blindly and thoughtlessy rushing in to kill the enemy. You gotta play the mod carefully.

Entropy : Zero has alot of cool things added into it, including nightvision/metrovision, a manhack weapon (which allows you to deploy manhacks), a voice for the player's character and new music, along with other things that I didn't mention.

There is a section in the game which was super difficult for me (that was on my first full playthrough of the mod on hard, its now not as hard now that I know what to do, etc) and that was Chapter 3 - Low. I not only on the very first map of that chapter have to compete with zombies and headcrabs, but also had to compete with my fps and that was on the very first map of that chapter! Might I add while I'm on the topic of fps problems, I don't think the mod is well optimized, you will experience performance issues sometimes and sometimes you won't. Anyways, I died so many times on this chapter, on the very first map, that I need to take a breather, take a break. I came back, died a couple times and then finally got to the next map which had much better performance. And then came what I found to be the most frustrating part of the mod, the Stalker escort mission. In this mission you have no more nightvision/metrovision because of an electrical surge, so you're stuck with a stalker with a light attached to his head. Very nice concept, not that well executed, very frustrating, but not impossible to complete. You constantly have to keep your eyes and your ears peeled for any sort of enemy presense near not only the stalker, but you as well, since what I found out is that every single zombie has an attack that will 1 hit kill you and in most cases your stalker. Oh but that's not the only thing you have to watch out for, it's also barnacles on the ceiling that for whatever reason have a kill trigger underneath them for the stalker. So say if a barnacle was occupied with something else like a zombie, if the stalker was to walk underneath it, it would "kill" the stalker (which it actually wouldn't, since the stalker can still be seen walking and more alive then ever). So you'll constantly have to shoot the ceiling for barnacles, even that one barnacle that doesn't have a tongue. Then on the third map of the chapter if you do manage to keep the stalker alive on the second map, then you're able to rest yourself, take a breather on a bullet train, which will then lead you to Pillar 10 which is where you'll meet the vorts. And boy, are they strong attackers.

Phew, that was a long paragraph. Anyhow, I enjoyed Entropy : Zero in most areas, it was quite a different experience compared to regular old HL2. I recommend this mod to those who are ready to get their ass kicked and are up for a challange! But I do not recommend this mod to a regular ol' joe who is expecting something like HL2 where you absord so much damage and is expecting to just run through the mod, mowing down the enemies without a problem. The mod is very hard, and is meant to be very hard. No need to enable cheats or nothin', mod is fully playable without them. I give this mod, in its current state, a 7/10.

Though this mod isn't fully complete, its really another great mod experience with the Half-life feeling. Short, but sweet. I also love the new music that's been added in, get a very half-life vibe listening to them. Can't wait for the next chapters, really great mod. Keep up the awesome work! :D

Prospekt, though had a bad start, has started to come a long way to what the developer had in mind. It's becoming better than it was on release.

At the current time, it's an alright game. Alot of the maps in this, look really good. Some things still need some work however, such as certain parts in gameplay, but overall it's really an alright game!

The awesome thing is though, that this isn't even a finished game yet and the developer is still working on many, many things for this game's future, and it's looking very promising from what he's shown for the future.

Defiently give this game a go, give it a chance. This could very well turn out to be a good sequel to Half-life: Opposing Force! :D

This game is awesome! A fun Rogue-like game to play by yourself or with friends. This was heeps of fun for me and my brother. The game starts you off on a planet which you must explore for loot to survive. While doing this, you are also trying to find the teleporter to advance to the next planet. At the start though it is abit boring till you get further into the game, finding more loot, killing hundreds and thousands of alien creatures that want to harm you. Though this is fun, I did encounter a few bugs and glithes. One of them made my character fall through the ground after spawning which was annoying. Another was similar, I would spawn and it was all good till I got to a point where my character would just randomly fall through the ground. One of the other one's was a server problem. When I start a server it runs fine on my screen, but when my brother wants to join it comes up on his screen with 'force item share' and I have no idea why it does that, got the ip right and everything, I don't know. Its fine though when my brother sets up the server. This doesn't mean I hate the game, I love it! I play it almost everyday, its just those bugs and glitches. This game is amazing with gameplay and oh man, I love the music. It was worth the money I spent on it. Thanks! =D
