I'm having a lot of fun, and in recent time Valve is actually listening to their community and fixing their mistakes. The game is actually playable compared to how it was for a long time.

A lot of negative reviews refer to "bots", which were automated cheater accounts that used the sniper class to practically instant kill anyone in their line of sight with near perfect aim. The bots plagued the game for several years, but over a year ago were finally dealt with by Valve. Now it's very rare to see bots, and I think cheaters are a little less common too.

In addition, F2P (free to play) accounts used to be unable to use in game communications due to bots spamming when they were still around. Valve recently revoked most of the restrictions on free accounts, which means you can actually call for your team medic now.
