If you told me there was a game about yakuza, ♥♥♥♥ jokes, and the entire cosmos of demons and gods i would scuff it off as some attempt to make me laugh. But THIS game, this game in particular is special. It encompasses these alongside being a mix of over the top and corny dialogue and action. The cast of characters take some time to adjust to, most of them have stereotypical features to them like exaggerated accents and questionable motives and movement. You either run into a cyborg junkie or a demon with flamboyant movement whenever they talk. A little off but it reminds me of the olden time where devs put more expression in peoples daily movement (I DON'T miss the piss filter though). Without spoiling anything Overall these are face level characters but they are quickly likable.

The meat and potatoes are the Guns/Melees and Skills. And boy oh boy they are all over the place, both good and bad. One second you'll use a magnum and the next you're using a skull LMG firing ammo filled with souls who cry when you fire. Nuts really the sheer diversity the types of guns and melees you can use. You can even use a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ NAIL GUN or the claws of a dead enemy. Really top notch stuff.
And they go well with the loot system. This game relies on a system of upgrades and skill points. The more you add in skills the more certain abilities and overall survivability is sustained. You can earn them through completing side missions and bounties. The other part are upgrades. These are affected by RNG, drop chance, and your general difficulty. They can added onto your weapons for special abilities and affects like elemental damage. For me its a double edge sword since you can run into enemies who are IMMUNE to certain effects so you either have to use another weapon with the proper effect or change it through your menus, which become very tedious. When you build your weapons make sure you prepare for any situation.

Its a Loot and Shooter. More emphasize on the Shooter. Its reminiscent to Modern Boomer Shooter Movement, like Doom 2016. The controls are snappy, you're Very agile and it can lead to a slew close calls and awesome situations. Though there are some gripes with some of the mechanics. One of them is the fall, specifically the animation you get when you jump even 10 feet off the ground. You' hit the ground with no damage, but now you take this long animation of slowly recollecting yourself and it can lead to some problems. A simple double jump from a somewhat small cliff can cause you to stumble and ACTUALLY be the reason for your death cause you're stuck in this dumb animation and you get mauled by the 20 elite Thorntails . So i be careful when you jump off high spots.

The difficulty is what i miss about some games. This one overall is nice balanced and can be fun. Once you get past normal difficulty you might want to be careful. This has the normal difficulty system, but they also have options for the hardest one. If your experience with the game is easier than you expect You have the option to elevate the difficulty even farther. For every 20 levels on the hardest difficulty you get the option of increasing an insane value which adds more health and status effects on your enemies but gives you more Exp and higher loot quality and chance. And there's multiplication to them. Test even going up one notch increases your Exp multiplier 1 1/2 times above normal. Not adding into it, adding ONTO it. So more and more exp is added the higher you go.

Overall my experience with this game was quick fun enjoyable and it reminded me that games don't need to be overtly tedious or rely on dumb patented mechanisms to emulate difficulty and gameplay.
It was so much fun i almost got ALL the achievements in one go (58 out of 64)
The story was short but was entertaining. And the MUSIC added are amazing touches, especially the final bosses, but i wont tell. You would need to play it yourself to experience this great great game.

TL;DR Buy it on a sale and have a blast!
