I think Travellers Rest is a great game in a great place being developed by a great team that is constantly listening to the community. With the most recent city update the game has taken a big step forward and has hit a point I would genuinely recommend it to most people, not just specifically to cozy players.

This is a fun game that carries your standard cozy mechanics (farming, resource collecting, crafting, non-combat exploration, home building and decorating, seasonal rotations) where you get to run a tavern. Its a bit chaotic at first while you try to manage on your own - but once you get access to employees things will settle a bit. Plenty of areas to go and scavenge for additional resources should you have a goal. A wide range of meals to be served covering a wide range of food styles you can serve up to your guest and a good collection of alcohol that you can play around with. The game offers some minmax mechanics via the trends system so you can really push for it, or you can ignore it and serve things you like and think are thematic.

One thing I do dislike about the dev direction is the removal of a lot of the customisation of dishes and drinks making everything a lot more cookie cutter and does drain a bit of the individuality from it. This seems to have been in response to people just putting a high gold item into something that doesnt make any sense just to increase the sale price (looking at you watermelon). I think the direction they went with this was the exact opposite of what I wanted from the game. Hoping this changes back or they rework this mechanic in some way.

There are still plenty of things in the pipeline for this game that will change how it plays but most changes seem to be in the positive direction as they are very receptive of the feedback they receive from the community.
