great that it's on steam but theres zero reason to play it here with the default osrs launcher. go get runelite or use the jagex launcher with runelite installed.

i enjoyed it a lot and you should too!
the only negative thing that i can say about it is a lack if visual stimulation i guess? whats there is good i just wish there was more. it's pretty simple in the production. they didn't bother to add pictures for all the characters and the ones they did have about 3 or 4 pngs with different faces and a handful of different scenes. also very linear story but being a very good one at that.

im hopeful that the anime adaptation does a good job of capturing said story while also being expansive on this somewhat lacking visual experience. AIRING 7/13/2024

update regarding the anime****
while they seem to share major plot points the story does seem to differ so id highly recommend reading and watching both

really bad port that you're better off playing on consoles. it will stutter and be crap no matter what your specs are. but you have you to play it here, heres some tips.

nvidia control panel settings >manage 3D> program settings>assassin's creed iv: black flag (sp) (ac4bfsp.exe)
max frame rate 60 - power management mode maximum - texture filering negative lod bais clamp - threaded optimization on - triple buffering on - vertical sync on - virtual reality pre rendered frames 2

game settings max out but tass x2, vertical sync off, phyx off

EVERYTIME you launch the game and load into your save
ctrl+alt+delete task manager>details>ac4bfsp.exe>right click set affinity>uncheck first and last cpu.>ok>undo what you just did. and go back to the game.
now log out of windows. windows key+L and log back in. should be mostly smooth 60fps

wow the culture shock was strong while playing this one after the last 4 games in a row. we leave Italy and move to america.
i was kind of annoyed with the game because for some reason they changed the controls for this after the last 4 games were all the same? and you cant bind anything with controller. but it was an okayish learning curve atleast.
connor is annoying, the game has buggy character clipping at times. and you probably still need to play the at 60Hz
oh and half the ♥♥♥♥ in the game you dont even use outside of the tutoral that "showed you" in the first place. no more worrying about medicine and your hp, no more armor, no more buying shops, no more worrying about posters and bribing people just isnt necessary to do.

the gameplay and story wise make it a pretty decent game. nothing in here makes me wish that i hadnt played it.. and ive played it twice now if that means anything to you.

that being said this was still miles better than the first assassins creed game.

Windows 10 Fix
1. Head to the File Explorer and find the directory of your game. Right click game in Steam Library> Manage>Browse Local Files
2. Once you are in this folder, find the systemdetection.dll file. Rename this file to systemdetection_0.dll
3. Relaunch your game.
4.Enable Vsync and set to 60Hz native resolution

YOU NEED TO USE VSYNC 60HZ TO FINISH THE GAME.

good game. the only issue i ran into with this game was at the very end only 1 trigger needed 60FPS to work.

this game is miles head of the first game. still has controller problems that need to be modded to fix. id consider watching a youtube overview video over the first game and just starting with this one because the first one gameplay and everything just was frustrating. however this one was pretty enjoyable. expect ~19 hours to "beat" it. many more hours to 100% but steam doesnt even get achivements so why bother

games been out for many years and there still isnt good contorller support without you modify the game YOURSELF despite it having console versions of it already that work flawlessly. you HAVE to cap the game to 60FPS otherwise you will die jumping off of things. the whole game is the same rinse and repeat game style that gets boring. and towards the end game everything just ends up pissing you off. walking down the street doing nothing and 10 guys wanna kill you for no reason. and the combat at the start that was working just doesnt kill people anymore, and half the time the mechanic flatout doesnt work. this not being my first AC game doesnt help at all as the other games are much much better.

endlessly frustrating
