EDIT 3: I know it was against the rules, but it's quite funny to be banned from the WT discussions after suggesting people play a far, far superior game than what Gaijin has made. This wouldn't happen if, hmm, you know, you made War Thunder actually fun and fixed the grind? Gaijin, you are seriously digging your own grave each and every time.

EDIT 2: So I re-installed this game after over 6 months of not playing it. I didn't really expect much but good lord! Nothing has changed. The grind is still as horrible as it has been for the past few years. Only playing low tier can be fun and rewarding since researching vehicles there doesn't take long, but even in low tier the grind is a little bad. I am a fool for installing this game again. I have returned to my senses and know full well that Gaijin will keep on making this game the worst possible thing. Please, any players who read this, quit permanently. Only once a large portion of the players quit permanently will there actually be some change. I'm genuinely sick and tired of Gaijin's trash. I'm tired of there being no real competitor to this game. Why does such a horrible company that cares not for its players have such a big monopoly over this genre? What did we do to allow this to happen? These "Hungarian" (actually Russian) game developers are horrid.

EDIT: Gaijin has everyone played for fools. The 2024 roadmap proves this quite well. After postponing tons of updates from the 2023 roadmap, most to do with economy changes, they're not even considering changing the economy for the entirety of 2024 (besides one extremely small update). Gaijin will continue to apologise -> do minimal changes -> go back to doing nothing
This game is horrible. Not even the massive riot that was May 2023 has them make change. I sincerely hope the playerbase realises this and quits entirely. A failed "boycott" for a week or two won't do anything, so how about not playing the game ever again to show Gaijin that they truly are evil?

War Thunder can be reviewed in two ways. Its concept and its reality.

In concept, War Thunder is a game that seeks to combine ground vehicles, aircraft, and sea vessels into one game and incorporate all into one battle. They also seek to do this with vehicles that have spanned the past century. This is a great, interesting concept that they have mostly been able to incorporate well. War Thunder is the only game, so far, that does this.

However, this is where the problem begins. In reality, War Thunder is developed by a the most money-hungry game development company to ever exist. They have implemented a progression system into this game and made it very, very, VERY near impossible for the regular non-paying player to actually progress nicely. Heck, even PAYING players struggle. You barely get ANY research for the next vehicle after a battle, even if you got #1 in the battle's scoreboard, and along with it barely any Silver Lions (the game's standard currency). Along with this, they have added a feature where your vehicles are damaged permanently after a battle until you repair them (which costs Silver Lions). The cost of these repairs can be ASTRONOMICALLY high (aka in most cases).

To put salt in the wound, Gaijin recently wanted to WORSEN the progression and repair cost problem. Sure, they ended up not going through with it but it doesn't change how GARBAGE War Thunder is already. Why not give us a POSITIVE update for once?

And finally, to top it all off, Gaijin themselves has someone write a whole essay that just screams "sorry players, we don't know how to make this game." They want us to STOP review-bombing them BECAUSE THEY ARE IN THE WRONG. They want us to say we're SORRY even though we SHOULD NOT BE.

I have personally, and regrettably, WASTED a LOT of money on War Thunder because I wanted to progress just a little bit further. I used money that I was intending to save for a new release on War Thunder because I couldn't take it anymore. I will miss out on the chance to pre-order a GOOD GAME because of War Thunder. And it is all GAIJIN'S FAULT for making the game so HORRIBLE to play which FORCES you to pay. PAY. TO. *******. PLAY.

I understand that a free-to-play game requires SOME form of revenue. But Gaijin, seriously? You ALREADY get ENOUGH money. Your game isn't a Marvel movie with the highest budget on Earth. Other free-to-play games are capable of being fair, why can't War Thunder? Saying "War Thunder is special, stuff from other f2p games won't work here!" is just an excuse. You're the ones developing War Thunder, so make it able to work.
