I have mixed feelings about Hades 2, and it all comes down to the current internet drama problems with the game. Let me get the part that matters out of the way first before my personal thoughts on the controversy though. The first part is going to be simple and gets the whole point covered right away, the second part is way more in depth and may not be of note to anyone just worried about game play. If this is the case for you, the game is good and I think you should buy it.

So, for the most important part of any video game, the minute to minute in Hades 2 is fantastic as expected. The weapons all feel really good to use with fights being fast paced and fun. Story and run progress is slow, but each run is very rewarding. The way the game over time introduces new characters and mechanics is just like the original Hades. The new mechanics feel very solid. The upgrade tree being tied to in dungeon items makes each run feel like a treasure hunt where I need to bring a specific tool to get the items I want in my run. The Companion system is interesting and I have high hopes for it being more fleshed out. I think the 2 area system they've set up has potential to be very fun with the underworld and over world being available to explore as the game goes on. It's fun, has a lot of content even now with the Early Access status, and will clearly get more added down the line leading into a full launch.

On the subject that people are going nuts over, some of the character designs do rub me the wrong way. This isn't a problem that ruins the game as a whole, but it is a big mark of shame against it in my book. It doesn't stop me from recommending Hades 2, but it is enough to be worth bringing up. I can already hear the racism cries coming, but I'm a full grown adult, your words don't hurt me, this isn't a playground. We have adult conversations here. Go try and bully somebody else. Anyways, Hestia and Hephaestus specifically are my main point of concern with the game when talking about character designs. I think Aphrodite is at least in line with her Hades 1 depiction so I'm not too concerned there and wont be covering that discussion here.

Hestia's design definitely was a DEI influenced choice. I have no issues with the way characters were designed in Hades 1. I generally am not thrilled with race swapping characters, but Hades 1 did it tastefully at least. There is a fine line to walk when doing something like this, you need to be respectful to the material you're changing in as many ways as possible or you draw criticism and get labeled as woke for making unnecessary if not disrespectful changes. In the worst of cases, you may even be blacklisted from selling your product in the country that you've just offended (Cleopatra, I am looking right at you for that one). Some characters in Hades 1 look distinctly Greek. Theseus being probably the most so. Not everyone did, nor needed to, look objectively Greek or even be 100% in line with their myth descriptions. In Hades 1, if a character was race swapped from being distinctly Greek in appearance, at a minimum they stuck to the idea of being like a drawn version of a statue. Immaculate with almost other worldly perfection.

One character that Hades 1 did well with this sort of race swapping was Ares being black while every other aspect of his design was within expectations of a depiction of the God of War. All the characters from Hades 1 stayed at least generally faithful to the way the pantheon is expected to look. To reference a character from Greek myths, Adonis. They are LITERALLY depicted in all stories and art from the time as having the ideal body. The males were shown as being muscular while females were shown slim with hair often very done up comparatively. Simply put, exactly the way a deity would be expect to be depicted. Hades 1 stayed true to that concept and everyone was drawn generally in line with this idea. Hades 2 somewhat does this, but Hestia and Hephaestus are obvious deviations.

I have major concerns with Hestia, her design speaks in my eyes towards them being more lax with quality control. They went all in on the hearth aspect of the myths, iron stoker, fire hat, reds and whites in the clothing. The decision to make the eldest Olympian literally elderly is a bit of a dumb choice as is the decision to entirely forgo the traditional depiction of Hestia by the greeks. She's morbidly obese in this game, as is Hephaestus. On the subject of him, he's a black smith. The wheelchair and lack of a leg are also clear DEI influenced choices. This is not in line with any stories about him. At a minimum, at least he's just as unattractive in Hades 2 as he is described to be in the myths. That said though, he's unattractive because he's 400+ pounds of wheelchair bound lard and not because his face looks like he headbutts brick walls for fun.

To sum that all up: Hades 1 handled character designs with tact while from what I can tell, Hades 2 didn't try to do this. Was this DEI influenced? Possibly. Is it a deal breaker? To some people it will be. As a big fan of the franchise and being that I enjoy ancient world cultures and the Greek myths most of all, I am not thrilled with these changes and they are without a doubt not done with the same amount of thought as Hades 1 had. If a developer from SuperGiant happens to read this I have just one thing to say for you: If you're going to do anything, at least do it with consistency. If you didn't want to be called out for this, then you should have at least stuck with the statuesque appearances from Hades 1. These changes are out of place and definitely don't fit in with the rest of the characters.

--

So, while I find the game play and story enjoyable, two of the new characters have deliberately unflattering and extreme deviations from the first game's art style that, given game journalist reviews and articles gush over these choices, I can only assume are intentionally added for DEI reasons at the expense of maintaining a myth and stylistic consistency. I still highly recommend playing the game though. My dislike for the designs is rooted in a love for ancient world cultures and myths/religions. I only bring it up because it is a major disappointment to see such blatant kneeling being done for no real benefit outside of wanting media bias towards your game in reviews and articles. Hades 2 is fun, but I just can't be happy with these choices having been made, and clearly, many other people are too.

At the end of the day, I still think Hades 2 is a good game and it is worth buying and playing. I don't like the way the handled some of the new characters, but that's not the meat and potatoes of the game itself and I can overlook it. Not everyone CAN do that, but I suggest doing so. You can skip dialogue and not have to really interact with Hestia or Hephaestus outside of taking their Boon. (I do think Hestia and Hephaestus have really good Boons so they are worth interacting with at least.)

I am giving Overwatch 2 a Positive Review with MAJOR things to keep in mind. For one thing, the game is basically a worse Overwatch. They changed many things over the years and with 2's release they removed a bunch of content. The PvE content is officially dead. The multiplayer is alright at best. The shop system and battlepass are a major issue in my opinion. Games should not have these scummy macrotransactions. All things considered, it's not great, but it's not awful. Overwatch 2 is a 7/10 game that just barely manages to be sometimes enjoyable to play instead of traditional shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield.

I can in fact confirm that in this game you go to a gym and lewd things happen. The game play is extremely basic. The art is well made and I can genuinely appreciate the effort put in here. It is exactly as advertised. Is Lewd Gym good? Debatable but I would say so. Is it a good GAME? No. It is absolutely more or less just a porn substitute. The story is basic but I found it funny enough to give it a fair shake. Overall, is it worth $10 though? Yeah. You can buy a lot worse games on Steam for a ten spot.

The idea is unique and handled very well. I don't think the balancing is done super great but overall the novelty of inventory management and autobattler is fun. I can see myself coming back to this game fairly often in the future. It's a neat light weight game that definite feels like a perfect on the go title for traveling.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the first game Awesome Games made, Yet Another Zombie Defense or the HD remake. I also am not the biggest fan of Survivor style games. However, I do find that this is an enjoyable time. I find the content in the game currently to be very fun and leaves tons of room to make super cool combinations. They seem to be putting out new content fairly regularly and supporting the game still so that's a huge plus for an Early Access title on Steam. The constant swarms of zombies and the enemy variety makes for a very tense experience. Unlocking new builds is super rewarding. Staying alive and getting kills to unlock new ways to survive longer and kill more feels really solid. I had a really good time with Yet Another Zombie Survivors and I have high hopes for it going forwards.

TLDR, most if not all negative reviews are just saying they don't like Epic Games. Dead Island 2 is fantastic. 8.7/10

To get it out of the way, I don't like Epic Games. I don't like the way they forced themselves into many games like Dead Island 2 and bought timed exclusivity deals with many companies. I however, am not going to give a negative score to a game just for having Epic Games integration. Many PC players fall into what I call the absolute normie category of gamers. They only understand the surface level concepts, like Epic Bad and this game uses EGS so it's bad too. This isn't fair nor being objective. It's unhelpful to everyone at every level. Yes, EGS is installed and runs by default. Complaining about this is the same as saying how dare my games install Direct X every time I install them. It's genuinely a non issue that is constantly being blown out of proportion. You do need to use Epic for online play, and I am willing to say THIS is an issue. It's not needed and many Steam users don't want to do this or have anything to do with it. This I can admit is a problem and should not be forced onto players like this.

For the game itself, the actually important thing to talk about; it's great. I don't really have memories of the original game beyond playing it at my cousins house but it felt fun. I'm not a big horror game fan but I do dabble now and then and I found Dead Island 2 was a great time. The horror is rather light comparatively to other games with such a tag, The darkness makes the majority of the levels feel tense and many jump scares are solidly placed.

The combat feels solid, but I am not a fan of weapon durability in most games, and still am not a fan here. You're handed weapons but only can repair or modify them at specific locations. The combat doesn't feel complex and honestly isn't. you get a basic attack, a heavy version, and a throw weapon attack. There's a drop kick/air kick attack that staggers zombies and makes the gameplay more complex. Unfortunately, when playing with additional people, these mechanics make the game a total breeze. You can infinitely stagger many enemies by simply having everyone run up and drop kick the enemies, than spam attacks. This lowers the difficulty substantially.

I wont lie, the writing is a bit cringe. I'd call it the usual 'millennial writing' of modern games and shows, but the setting makes it genuinely believable. Set in LA this kind of speaking is actually something that I think fits in well. I don't like it all that much, but it does fit in so it's not horrible. The story is enjoyable enough, escape LA. I'm not thrilled that people call it Hell A in the story without any prompting or reason that I can understand. I didn't watch any promotional material so maybe there is backstory that explains this name, but as far as I can tell, it's just poor writing.

All this said, the game is very fun. The gameplay is smooth and enjoyable. The story is interesting and while conversations make my ears bleed, it's not a problem usually. I find combat to be fun and multiplayer isn't too awful, Epic Games considered. All in all, it's a solid game. 8.5 or a 9/10 for sure.

TL;DR Chomp Champs is fun but overpriced. Customizing Pac-Man is enjoyable and they clearly put alot of time into this game, but it's too expensive with not enough content. Worth getting on sale for a Pac-Man or party game fan.

While I do enjoy Pac-Man and the concept behind Chomp Champs is fun and interesting, I don't think this is as good as I'd hoped it would be. While I still recommend the game, I do so with a few major caveats. For starters, you have to be willing to always have at least some Bots in your game. This is a paid online only multiplayer Pac-Man game and for $20/$30 the potential player base is going to be limited. There really is only one game mode and Ranked tracks wins and loses while Elimination doesn't.

Do I think the game is fun? Yes, it is absolutely fun. the customization is fun, the music is a remixed happy and cheerful tune that Pac-Man fans enjoy, and the gameplay is an interesting grid based system with fun PvP and power-up mechanics. While I can say I enjoy this game, I don't think it's for everyone and I definitely don't think this game is priced properly. It's definitely a more casual Battle Royale game but I do think that the more competitive older players will dominate this game and leave the intended young casual players feeling a bit disappointed. The ability to que for Elimination with a party makes this a fun group game at the minimum, guaranteeing actual players in the PvP rather than just Bots, so there is potential there. I wish there was a system for making a lobby and hosting players to it, but this is fine for what it is.

Overall, it's good. It retains the same basic Pac-Man game play while mixing it up and having a fun PvPvE spin. I enjoy it and I think it's fun, but I do not think the price is set right, something Bandai Namco never seems to nail down with their games.

Of all the rhythm games I have played, this one is one of my favorites. Simple controls with tons of customization for note speed, characters, perks, etc. Everything feels finely crafted. The song selection is fantastic with the base game having all the expected favorites from Night of Nights to Bad Apple. There are plenty of songs from many different games on display here with fantastic audio quality. Even though the price is very high, I can safely say that for a Tou Hou fan, this is very worth getting,

You can get piss drunk and eat hot pot with a cute girl. This is the exact opposite of my real life. 10/10 Best escape from reality you can buy. Except it doesn't run on Steam Deck yet so maybe wait to buy until it does if that's important to you.

It's probably pretty telling that I don't even remember what was so bad about this port that it made me refund it. I'm writing this review about a year later for context. I can't recall if it was the trash controls, the bugs, the lack of polish, or all of the above. Whatever it was, I do know it was very disappointing and it was bad enough that I wanted my money back after basically being robbed by Sega & Blind Squirrel. Just buy an old Wii and play Colors on that instead honestly.
