It is a tough one, I'm in love with both Hotline Miami games and I think that overall the first Hotline Miami is a more polished experience. It might be shorter but because of that it get that kinda B Movie feeling to it

Hotline Miami 2 in the other hand gets way more ambitious, with a higher number of levels and playable characters that give a bit less freedom of playstyles, a plot that goes all over the place with its timeline and a level design that can feel unfair at times.

It is however one of the best games I ever played, I love it way more than the original game, which is also in the top of my favorites ever. It is one of those games that might not click the same for everyone even tough I strongly believe that if you like Hotline Miami you will enjoy Hotline Miami 2. There is something in its confusing order for telling the story and the themes of violence, redemption and patriotism, that mixed with an amazing cast of characters with hard but cool levels (when you get the level design) that gave me a feeling I have still yet to see be replicated.

My take is for you to give it a shot if you enjoyed Hotline Miami, and I you haven't played the previous game, well, go play it and then come back here, just relax and enjoy, what I can asure you is that they are worth their price
