One of the few remasters/remakes which is a pure improvement over the original game. All the new content and gameplay changes have cemented NieR Replicant as one of my all-time favorites.

The core of the game is still great even with all the changed that have been made since release. The combat is satisfying, the maps are well crafted, the grind to reach endgame is well-paced and there's enough variety in the enemies (especially with the now-nerfed beastmen) that every game is unique and exciting. With a ton of new stuff being added later this year, it looks like the game will only improve with time.

Wacky Woohoo Pizza Man Adventures feat. his punk nephew and emo poetry nerd

For real though DMC5 builds so much on the previous entries that I'll legitimately have a hard time going back to them. The game is nearly perfect.

Dragon Quest XI is one of those rare games in which I can find almost no flaws.

It is perfectly paced, both in terms of gameplay and narrative. There is never a dull moment and you are never really forced to grind fights since monsters are shown in the overworld. You can avoid fights, but I've found myself fighting every new monster I see just because of how gorgeously modeled and animated they all are. From hour 0 to hour 50 and beyond, the story never drags; there is a constant sense of progression and the plot develops in interesting ways, using the conventions of the genre (that Dragon Quest itself established) in a way that surprises and delights you the entire way through (it's also deceptively dark in ways that caught me off guard).

Dungeons never overstay their welcome, lasting just long enough for you to feel ready to move onto the next area. To complement this, every area is varied and unique, the scenery changing wildly as you travel across the continent of Erdrea. Climactic areas are suitably long, providing appropriate weight and tension for the stories tied to them.

The Pep system, a status which allows your characters to perform "Super" moves, is great too. It's always a joy to discover a new Pep Power for your party members to use together, potentially saving you from certain doom or simply providing a good laugh.

Your companions are uniformly charming; all of them are distinct in character and make for a great team. Their interactions are one of the highlights of the game, Sylvando especially just for how proactive he is in encouraging and supporting the party. The gameplay of each party member is tied to their characters, even reflecting the development they receive over the course of the game. Erik is a standout in this regard, sticking by your side throughout the entire game and growing immensely along the way, something reflected by him being somewhat weak in the early game, but becoming an absolute monster later on.

The only clear flaw that I might find with the game is that it might be too easy in places. For veterans of the genre, perhaps even the optional hard mode might be a bit easy. However, this doesn't dectract from the game at all. The game's more lighthearted atmosphere fits this lower difficulty, making for a perfect game to play when you just feel like sitting down for a good JRPG experience. With this in mind I'd even count Dragon Quest XI as the perfect place to get into JRPGs for a newcomer interested in playing them.

Make sure to get the Orchestral Soundtrack replacement mod, look for the community guide. Music is largely up to taste, but I found the MIDI music the game ships with to not be very good. Replacing this soundtrack with the orginal, orchestrated pieces makes Dragon Quest XI even more of a joy to play.

Rating: 10/10, an absolute must-play.

The game runs well (50-60 FPS depending on location) at mostly high settings (no Volume Rendering) on my setup, especially considering how my GPU is technically below the recommended spec. It's a shame about the current texture and water reflection bugs among others, but they don't negatively impact my experience enough for me to scream on the forums about it, especially after dealing with the visuals from the PSP/3DS games for as long as I have.

As for the game itself, Monster Hunter World is worthy of its place within the franchise and is frankly the best High-Rank release we've gotten so far. I'm seriously looking forward to what happens when Capcom pulls out all the stops for the G-Rank expansion.

edit: As of November 24, most of the problems the game had on release have been fixed.
tl;dr: Works on my machine, the game itself is also pretty damn good.
SPECS:
GPU: EVGA GTX 1050TI Superclocked
CPU: Ryzen 2600x
RAM: 8 GB of DDR4 @ 3000MHz
Motherboard: ASUS x470 Pro Carbon

Early Access Review
Project NImbus is a fast-paced mecha game prominently featuring missilespam and hordes of cannon fodder alongside innumerable references to classic mecha franchises.

At the moment its rough voice-acting and charming Engrish contribute to an image of the game that is rather rough, the gameplay that serves as the game's core is satisfying and intense.

Development is very active on this game, with new and updated features being implemented regularly. The devs aim for an official release in December of 2016. I can only look forward to seeing this game's vision realized.

In the near decade following its release, I still have yet to find a game that has responded to my actions as organically as New Vegas does. Every character build is viable, every conflict has multiple solutions, and every major faction makes a good argument for the player to join them. The only thing I could have wanted more from this game was time for Obsidian to finish it.
