Insurgency is one of the most rewarding games to play and learn that I've ever played.

TLDR: This game is worth a purchase, but playing the game too much will kill the spirit of the game and make it bland. Just play it an hour or two. It's dead now.

After 2100 hours, there are a few major things to note if you're looking at buying this game.

One. There are elements of this game that are amazing. The lack of knowledge when first playing will be brutal, but enjoyable. One you understand the flow of the game, Insurgency will blossom into the hardcore fast-paced FPS experience. Also, this game's "free aim" from titles similar to Red Orchestra is there, but hardly noticable then previous updates. I fail to sense the difference between this title and the original mod, and in both I can't see/feel any "free aim" with non ADS weapon handling.

Two. There is a major disconnect between competitive players and everyone else. You can play the game slow/tactical , but once you understand the speed and movement mechanics, you'll come to realise that this game is more meant to be played at a speed similar to COD, but with less gadgets.

Three. The game itself has a wide spectrum of play styles and servers to accomodate. Play for speed and aggression? Competitive is what you're looking for (potentially).Like to take it slow and steady? Coop and realism servers have what you're seaching for. This game is extremely accomodating between arcade and realism ( most are more of a 70 arcade /30 realism mix imo.)

Four. The lack of communication from developers to players was really a problem when this game was in development. This game has been "dead" since January 2017 where they officially announced the end of new content for this title. The devleopers started to drop off with conact after february 2015 when their plans for competitive insurgency seemed to drop off the planet. in June/July, They released a competitive "alpha", which ended up being stat

I loved this game. I loved the competitive community. But after realising that the kind of love that fades away into realising how shallow and empty the whole thing really is.

This game was such a weird niche within the genre, There's nothing out there quite like this when it comes to the depth that's possible yet the skills and strategies developed here are so niche that aiming isn't really going to transfer. So if you want to specialize in something that maybe 0.5% of the playerbase is going to understand, go on ahead.

Still definitely worth the money and time though :^)

A great song that goes with everything. From the Hyper Street Fighter II Anniversary Edition. I increased the speed of the song to keep up with the tense attack. Ends a few seconds after a normal Counter-Attack (Usually a minute or so.) Thanks to Sonicmast
