I love it when puzzle games with simple mechanics take them to the extreme, this was a chill hour-long experience to solve every last puzzle.

Character variety and the shop mechanics make this game stand out from other bullet-hell roguelites. The only meta progression is unlocking characters, weapons / items, and new difficulties, so unless you play endless mode your builds will feel powerful, but rarely ridiculous.

Tons of secrets, lots of variety in characters, levels, and items, packaged in a fun loop of getting stronger to outpace the horde of enemies.

A really fun class based horde shooter with procedural caves to excavate. The community is great and the equipment is really fun to use. There's plenty of late-game progression through free cosmetics and weapon mods (overclocks) that can completely change any of the weapons, give balanced trade-offs, or minor buffs.

When I think back on the games I've played this year, and which I've enjoyed the most, I think of Hades again and again. I've played Supergiant's other games before, and they're one of my favorite indie games studios, but Hades has excelled in so many ways, and is their most enjoyable game yet to me. The game is great fun, always makes you want to play another escape attempt, the difficulty gives the player a great progression path, and there are options to make the game easier or harder, to suit the experience you're looking for. This game got me interested in rogue-lites again; the music, storytelling, and combat are all superb.

Deckbuilding in an adventure game with persistent unlocks, and lots of cool builds to try. Still early in the game but loving the different classes and challenging encounters.

A fun collection of fun de-makes of classic and new Devolver games, Not as much content here as any one individual featured game, but the old arcade throwbacks are fun and offer a fair challenge, the new audio tracks are a plus as well.

Great combat, lots of interesting gear and original soundtrack. If you want to become the most popular student at your post-apocalyptic high-school give this game a shot.

Shoot, dodge, shoot, roll, shoot, die, repeat. It's a bullet-hell roguelike with plenty of cool secrets and interactions.
