Bottom line: Very good premise and promise, but Crazy amount of game breaking bugs, and poor performance with loading. Even on high-spec machines.

I have a 3090 TI, i7, 128 gb RAM, and have it installed on an SSD. The game itself does not lag, but the loading performance is abysmal. This causes game-breaking problems where, for example, my speeder was able to drive into a no-speeder zone (because the zone limitation didn't load yet), causing the game to break and me needing to revert to an old save, losing progress. Another game breaking bug was when I walked into a room that hadn't loaded yet, and fell through the terrain. Then another instance where a cutscene of important story froze, and was unwatchable. And even with my high PC specs, if I die and need to go back to an autosave, the loading time is very long.I haven't seen loading times this long since the mid 2000s.

Really good looking game. Story seems interesting. Horrible optimization and horrible loading times, which also cause game breaking bugs.

Buy at your own risk. If they can fix the optimization problems, I'd recommend it. Also if you can just deal with the bugs, it might still be worth it.

Ignore the weird nerds review bombing this with negative reviews while complaining about translation (if you look, the people doing that don't even have any play time to judge the translation quality, it's all knee-jerk reactions).

They're all brigading from the same place--a fan community for this game that's been around for a long time since long before an official English release was announced, and in general they do not like any translation that was not created by their community. The patch they're talking about is supposed to restore some cut content, and will give a translation that is more literal (to the original japanese) and consistent with their other fan translations, so I would still recommend it if only for the cut content. Though I find it really distasteful that they're review bombing in an attempt to advertise the patch.

From playing myself for a few hours, the translation out of the box is good quality. If you don't want to wait for the patch, or don't want to get the patch at all, it's perfectly fine. The story makes sense and is true to the intent of the plot, and the english is fluent and reads well without spelling/grammar issues. It isn't a literal translation in some areas (though it does still use a good amount of Japanese slang), but professional translators will tell you that it's better to localize translations so that they make more sense rather than going literal (which can confuse readers who don't know japanese. Like for example, a literal translation of a japanese pun won't make any sense).

Now all the translation shenanigans aside, I would highly recommend this if you're a fan of Steins;Gate and the other Sci Adventure Series. Chaos;Head of course was the first game that started the series (though it is more violent than Steins;Gate if that's your only exposure to the series), and I'm really excited to finally have an official release!

I haven't had a chance to try the VR mode yet, but even the '2D' playthrough was adorable with a cute story. The 'interactive' game mode also somewhat works in non-VR.

My only complaint was how short this was (I was hoping it'd be longer, like Project LUX) although the story is only around 30 min long.

As a fan of the series though, I definitely enjoyed it, so I would still recommend it for fans of Spice and Wolf, or anyone interested in a short visual novel with a VR twist to it.

Damn this is an interesting game. A lot of the reviewers are being overly harsh in my opinion.

The graphics and game environment look awesome, with a very interesting sort of steam punk aesthetic. Pretty much all objects in the game have physics, with even some having cloth physics. You frequently have to move items around as part of the puzzles. The 'gravity tool' that you use to manipulate things can be a little iffy with aiming at times, but it's pretty straightforward to use. Rooms will get totally trashed through solving the puzzles, but what's nice is that the items will reset (eg items will go back on shelves) if you leave and come back, making it easier to get around.

As for the story, it's in a pretty interesting setting. You're exploring a mansion, assisting a professor who got stuck in a machine that he invented. Though as you get close to the end, you do start to realize that things aren't quite what they seem. Without giving spoilers, the end of the game does have an extremely Black Mirror-esque twist--even the developers said they were inspired by Black Mirror. I noticed some reviewers felt the ending was a let down, because it wasn't what they expected, but honestly I thought it was an interesting concept and I think it's cool to have unexpected ending. And it's definitely something that no one will be able to expect.

My only complaint (as others have mirrored) is with locomotion. If you don't get VR sickness and prefer smooth locomotion, you'll be disappointed that the walk speed is pretty slow, and that there's only snap turning. It was very annoying at first, however you get used to it pretty quickly.

Early Access Review
For an alpha version, Go for Launch is very good! Though a lot of content remains to be added, I've found the existing framework to be excellent. I love space sims and have always wanted a sim that covered the early space program, such as Mercury and Gemini. I am glad to finally have one that does so. I can't wait to see how the development progresses.

Bought during the summer sale.

Overall I'm very happy with this game

Pros:
*Well-researched WWII game. All the aircraft and ships are accurately depicted
*Gameplay is a good trade off between easy arcade-style and hyper-realistic controls
*Air combat and dive bombing/torpedo runs are lots of fun
*Graphics are really nice for when this game was released, and still hold up in my opinion
*Not many Pacific Theater WWII games available, especially depicting carrier combat.

Cons:
*Games for Windows Live is awful. I hate it
*Expensive DLC that has to be purchased through Games for Windows Live
*Would be nice if skirmish mode had a simple mission editor
