I saw this game featured on the front page of Summer Sale 2023. At first I thought it's going to be another of those pixel graphics roguelike mobile game port where it's all grind... but then I noticed that it has an incredible amount of "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews.

My first reaction watching the trailer was: "Diving? Spiritual successor of Aquaria? What is this Shogeki no Soma shenanigans???"

So I bought the game out of curiosity. This ended up being my favourite games. There's a very charming story to go with it! I can't believe I love this fish game so much. 10/10 highly recommend

P.s Dave is an absolute unit. He dives 2-3 times every day, rotates sharks, and manages a sushi restaurant at night. I don't know how he remains so rotund despite how much physical work he does day in and day out.

You'll come to love and care for a colony of digital dwarves. Or you go full blood god and see them as disposable pawns. It will only be one or the other.

Stupidly fun, worth the price. Don't be fooled by the intentionally retro graphics. The man from Rogue Legacy is somewhere in there.

Update: How did this meme game become so good is a mystery to everybody.

Despite the fact that I might veg out with this game for a few more days, this title is bogged down by too many loot that you cannot organize. Want to sort for agility only for your hunter? Ripperoni you have to scroll through all the items one by one. Unless they added it and haven't told me yet.

I'm not sure if the devs themselves tried playing for long hours to catch how many redundant or messy multitasking stuff to do.

As for the story? The problem is not that it's quirky, rather at some point it becomes a waste of time cheekily spiting RPG conventions of learning anything related to your game. The cat is annoying (for me) and c'mon how many old people bashing jokes does the dev want to do in a row?

With a better writer, the game may not feel as much of a slog. Overall, I give a thumbs down.

Welcome to the rice fields, motherbleeper! (meme reference is meme reference)

I've lost too many hours to this game. Great balance of simulated farming and platforming bash-em-up. Never neglect your rice because that's the only way you'd level. How realistic is the rice farm thing? The devs consulted the Ministry of Agriculture in Japan. They have a guide up on that website for this game's rice farming section, if I heard that right.

I prefer to play this with a Logitech/playstation style controller than the xbox, using the D-pad to navigate. Due to the combo combat system, this game requires more precise inputs than usual. If you find that you're flailing and falling in the 2.5D combat sections, try the D-pad.

Story is incredibly charming, and the cast will grow on you. Lore will be very interesting for those who know their Japanese history. It takes place in world with faux-countries of our equivalents. Your resident cook is Dutch, indicating that this story takes place roughly the time when Europeans know the existence of Japan.

The only downside is that this game doesn't have regional pricing. Some areas will find the game way more expensive than others. If you could get this though, I guarantee many hours of good times.

As a Malaysian, all the little Malaysian hints gave me a lot of laughs and nostalgia! Every stage fits the theme. Highly recommended to rebind the dash button to the right shoulder if you're using a controller.

More detailed review after I finish the game.

EDIT: I couldn't beat the boss of the 5th floor. I wish I could though, because I really wanted to see where this zany plot go. I still recommend it for the cultural icons though. I think most people on steam will find it different than the norm

Hades is an absolute blast from Supergiant. It takes everything they've learned from all their previous releases and polished them up some more. The world feels very alive as the game takes note of pretty much everything you do.

My thumbs and hands are sore but I still want to continue.

Very overlooked series in general. I was first introduced to this series during the PS2 days. Fast paced ARPG with a tight story. Although you could start with this game, you'll get a much better understanding of the world if you played Ys Complete Collection first.
