Not purely a "Move right = Win" walking simulator. Some puzzles, lots of unanswered questions. Good stuff.

Loved the visuals - pixel art at its finest, reminiscent of JRPGs on the SNES. Sound was fine too, with nice, gratuitous effects and unobtrusive music. And I enjoyed the setting - it's like a more macabre Stardew Valley (Which is fine, since that game was waaaaaaaay too upbeat).

But there's a problem with pacing. Your character has to unlock buildings and technologies through a point-system (Red, green and blue), some of which are gained more sparsely than others. And to progress the story, you need to unlock certain things, so you'll be starved for points at some point, with no real way to get them efficiently.

The alleged grind isn't that much of an issue - using zombies, you can pretty much automate all production eventually. Do mind that there's still a grind and a lot of waiting for a certain day to come.

All in all, I do recommend the game, but only during discount events.

Mild recommendation.

Don't get me wrong, it's fun to build a little village and then keep on adding stuff, creating infrastructure and setting up defenses, but there's no end-game. Once you've got everything set up, there's no real escalation of threats (just a slightly bigger dragon and an ogre or 2 during invasions). No goals to achieve. Just... building. If that's your thing, cool. If not, then you'll be quite finished around the 15-hour mark.

Get it when it's discounted.

The spiritual successor of Destruction Derby. Fun, but shame about the blatant cheating NPC drivers.

Killed pirates, natives, privateers, tigers, goats and my terrible group of millenial friends. Perfect holiday.

While I like the idea and the presentation (Video- and audio-wise), I got tired of the "move to the beat" mechanic quickly. I don't wanna give this a negative recommendation if only because it's an original idea, but I can't see myself playing it to the end.

I guess it's the kind of game you need to be just a tad bit drunk for to enjoy and get in the zone. Unfortunately, I can't be drunk 24/7, so I asked for a refund.

So after making your own harem/squad of 15-year olds with rifles, bazookas and a walking nuke, I somehow turned the 12-year old girl into the most lethal of my executioners, who has no problem walking calmly into incoming fire and then proceeding to magdump any enemy in range.

Do I recommend this game? What a dumb question.

Lengthy campaign, involving story, no multiplayer - good stuff all around. Voice-acting is simply excellent, weapons are a fun mixture of precision and collateral damage. Enemies are generally a joy to kill (More on that later). Visuals are a treat, physics and damage model make combat an exercise in surgery.

However. Some enemies take the pace out of the combat a bit too often. The basic demon is great - it usually appears in larger numbers, can be killed easily enough (Unless it enrages) and keeps you moving around. But the shield-bearers, berserkers and warlords all take too much time to kill, even with fully upgraded weapons.

Basically, what I wanted from this game was a horde of simpler enemies to cut down. The later weapons (Rocket launcher, flamethrower, upgraded katana) basically scream for stuff to murder, except there isnt any. During the campaign, monsters spawn at select points, in 1 or 2 waves. You advance a few rooms or corridors, and repeated.

Which brings me to the Survival mode, which isnt much of an improvement. Sure, the action gets more hectic, but the amount of enemies doesnt. For example, instead of 15 basic demons, you get 2 berserkers (which require shooting a specific weakspot) and a demon that resurrects fallen enemies, but also shields itself till the resurrectees are dealt with. All of which aren't difficult to bring down, but they take ages! It may seem like a silly complaint, but when you have weapons like the rocket launcher, you want to shoot it right into the middle of a mob of monsters and what their limbs fly all over the place. Shooting a rocket at just 1 warlord is just... ugh, no. It's just not a return to the good old murderfests like Doom.

Anyway, it's a fun romp. The setting is a bit odd - Chinese guy (in what is presumably Japan) wants to buy a sword from a collector, ♥♥♥♥ happens. One-liners ensue, fantastic locations are visited, lots of exposition in cartoon-esque cinematics and ingame events, original lore.

Fun game with a style of combat that might not be everyone's cup of ricewine.

Promised to be great, but a big let down a few hours in. There's a spark of creativity here, a hint of greatness. It's ambitious, huge and not a bad looker.

But it's no replacement for Forged Alliance Forever, which is what many people were hoping for. Only a handful of units and buildings, just 1 race/faction, awkward controls but worst of all - no "experimentals"/T4/big stompy things. There's nukes, lasers and planet smashing, but it just doesn't give that feeling of having a Monkeylord ruining everyone's day...

I'm sure that with plenty of development, all of the above can be fixed and this could really be a fantastic game. A modern game that actually uses all the latest hardware improvements (Supreme Commander was made for the 32-bit era) and robust netcode? Hell yes!

Sadly, Uber has a reputation for ending development early (Monday Night Combat, Super MNC) and it looked like PA was gonna get the axe next when they announced Human Resources. A game which, if going by the trailer, also looked amazingly fun, original and creative. Fortunately, it didn't make it past it's Kickstarter phase, otherwise there'd be even less development on PA. I can't help but feel sorry for the people that paid the orignal price on Kickstarter and Steam ($90?)...

tl;dr - not enough content and development time, but looks promising.

Shallow gameplay, features that aren't implemented or badly and a general low quality feel to the game makes this no replacement for Freelancer or X. I don't know where to begin, so I'll just ejaculate my thoughts as they surface:

Ships, which range from sub-capitals (Gunships) to dreadnaughts, all feel like fighters. They've got turrets, but there's no feeling of "weight" behind it all. No tracking needed, stuff turns on a dime. Shield and armor feel useless. Fighters and bombers just "blip" into existence when you launch them. Worst of all is that you're made to believe this is a space game, yet there's no trace of inertia - shut off the engine and you come to a perfect stop. I'll admit that this is hardly the only game that's guilty of this faux pas, but it's extremely noticable in SG2. The main mode of travel, "power to engines", is slow and takes any feeling of fluidity out of playing.

Too many factions. All of them without any personality or motivations. Building up a reputation doesn't seem to do anything, and the game randomly turns them hostile or friendly towards the player during the storyline without any lasting damage or benefits. Devs, instead of having 36 factions (I'm not making this up), just have a couple of main players on the political stage and a few overt bad guys (Pirates + the Big Bad).

Quality of the game is lacking. Voice-acting is terrible, accompanied by large amounts of text between main missions. Do not play this game for the main campaign, for its storyline is the most blaise of generic sci-fi crap and daddy-issues (Which also assumes you have played the previous SG's campaign).

German and eastern European developers - stop using local "talent" as actors and writers. The accents are horrible ("Ze Germans are comingk!") and the amount of spelling errors and horrible construction of sentences in the written text makes me just wanna skip all the nonsense.

All of that, and it's not feature complete. There's this whole section of skills, perks and abilities (even a class) dedicated to fleet combat, but you're only ever in control of your own ship. You can hire mercenaries, but they require regular payment, you don't get a group of ships to command and control. Docking (or "anchoring" as its called in SG2) is non-existent, you just float up to a station and press a button. Not that stations are that necessary - they only feature to have a place to save the game, repair and rearm and buy crap.

tl;dr - vapid game devoid of any passion. Galaxy looks nice though!
