A game where you have to wait for energy to use in order to play.
Completing a game of mahjong within a limited time you will be reward you with random items which are used to complete collections, unlock new areas and complete quests.
It’s highly repetitive and the stories are pointless (you really don’t need to read a single word in the game.)
The quests are the same things over and over, find certain items, play a certain area or interact with the creatures walking around the world map.

It’s copied and pasted from their game Lost Lands: A Hidden Object Adventure.
No effort put into it, all images and 'story' are kept identical, they even included items for night mode which isn't available in Mahjong.
All they've done is replace the hidden object game with Mahjong instead.
You’re constantly shown "offers" of micro-transactions.

The only improvement is the Steam achievements are easier to get, instead of grinding to level 5 you get them at level 1.

Purely just a cash grab for anyone gullible enough to make the in-game purchases.
If you want free achievements then go for it, that's the only good thing I can say about this game if you like collecting them.

Having completed all the achievements and the game receiving a patch, I've updated the review.

A unique and very nice take on the Tower Defence genre.
In One Troll Army you control a giant troll to protect the goblins fort from invading waves of attacking creatures whilst you manage the goblins to collect resources and build up the fort.
As well as building up the fort you can also upgrade the troll, giving yourself more HP, strength and even learning new combat skills.

A rather fun and slightly comical game with a nice graphic style.

My biggest issue with the game is the amount of content and reply there is. It can be quite easily finished within a day or two and doesn't provide much game play after beating the three mission maps, you're left with just a survival (endless) mode which is the same but starting again and you lose the upgrades you had on the troll gained during the three levels.
More Maps and different modes would really help make the game last longer and give more reason to play through again.

The music, whilst it's okay, is a little too cheerful and needs more of a beat to match the goblin and troll theme of the game.

There was several bugs during my play though but I was still able to complete it, it did cause there to be a little extra difficulty to it but it was manageable. Since completing it a patch was released to address some problems although I've not tested it and won't be able to without starting a new game. It's nice to see they're fixing the problems though.

Multiplayer is only available via Twitch, which is a little disappointing, while it's a nice idea it's not going to be for everyone.

Overall it's a good game and a lot of effort has gone in.
It was nice that it was released for free and definitely worth a try if you like Tower Defence or even a bit of hack and slash. Given the lack of content it's probably not something I would have bought for much, I'd much like to have seen more verity of game play and possibly a more direct multiplayer method.

Very enjoyable for a short time but not something I'm planning on going back to unless more is added.
I have no complaints about any of the content that is available.

There's no micro-transactions or anything you'd expect to find in a free game, you can purchase cosmetic DLC to help support the developers if you liked the game, something I'd like to see being done a lot more with other games. :)

A great theme park game, inspired by Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2 with a few similar ideas as 3.
For an early alpha it works really well, there's still a long way to go to reach the content that's in the Rollercoaster series but still plenty you can build.
Lots of customisations for scenery and rides for you to create the park the way you want it to look - with Steam Workshop you can share them with others and see what they've made too.
The game supports mods as well so there'll always be more you can find add to your park.

Due to early access there's no campaign yet, you're currently limited to sandbox only and no way of losing as being in debt doesn't stop you from spending.

I spent thousands of hours on Rollercoaster 1 which I still enjoy visiting again for many years and I hope to do the same for Parkitect.

The game gets plenty of updates so it's set to be an incredible game in the future but it's certainly worth buying even now.
I've not experienced any problems with the game, there's a few graphical errors that you'll notice from time to time however nothing that's caused any problems playing. An excellently made Early Access game.

[Longer Version]

Soler Shifer Ex is a scrolling shoot'em up from the same developer of Meridan: New World.
I was looking forwards to buying it since seeing the trailer. Impressed with Meridian I had good hopes for this, I was not let down.

For a scroller, the game has a lot of depth and detail to it.
While it's not a massive bullet hell it is still a challenge with plenty of different enemies on screen.
Checkpoints are used so you won't lose much progress on the way if you die and the sections can be retried as many times as needed until you get through so it should be possible for everyone to complete the game eventually regardless of how good you are at it.

Unlike most shooters, Solar Shifter Ex makes use of a 'shift' feature which allows you to jump to one of the four locations on screen to help avoid enemies and their shots, where at some points of the game it's essential to use it to survive 'puzzle-like' beam attacks.

There's 18 levels in total located on or near different worlds which have their own theme and ships that fit in with the design of the world and don't show up anywhere else.
As well as looking different they also behave different, such as the Pirates which instead of just firing everything they have at you, they will intimidate you with plenty of ships and restricting your movement.

With some levels having a lot going on in the background and the use of the camera and the 'track' turning you get a good atmosphere and adds to the short story throughout the game.
A lot work has been put into each level and ship design and it shows and works well.

Included in the 18 levels you get to play 3 mini-levels using alien ships, giving you a break from your standard one, less challenging and more about fun and variety
Your ship can have its weapons upgraded, while these don't change the gameplay directly, you will benefit from the extra damage dealt. Destroying more enemy ships and collecting the credits will benefit you.

While the graphics are really nice and well made it can be a little demanding when there's a lot going on especially for older computers, if this is the case you may need to lower the settings down using the unity menu which can lower the performance of the control input too, a problem for this sort of game, adding unnecessary difficulty/frustration.

Finally, the soundtrack, awesome music and if you've played Meridian: New World and liked its music this won't let you down.

I'm unsure how long it took me to complete, having left the game on whilst AFK, but it still provides a good number of hours of entertainment, for extra replay value there's achievements for completing certain levels without damage and collecting credits/buying upgrades.

[Shorter version]

Interesting take on the traditional scroller shoot'em ups
Good challenge but not too difficult
18 levels (including 3 mini-levels)
Good features
High verity of enemy ships
Great graphics (may be very demanding on older computers)
Nice music

26th December update: I've now included a link to a video of the campagin being played through, link is at the end.

A very nice RTS game, made by one person, that offers a good amount of content.
(Demo Is Available - Highly recommended!)

Meridian: New World has a lot of original RTS features to give you a nostalgic feel but at the same time shouldn't be compared to other RTS games,
It takes elements from other games and uses them in its own way to create a unique and long awaited RTS.
If you have high expectations of a Command and Conquer or Supreme Commander you may be disappointed but it is still a good game in its own right and fans of the genre should try it out.

Meridian is strongly focused on single player, It has a good storyline spanning over 15 missions and sections between each one where you can interact with and get to know the characters.
You will have to make choices along the way. Your actions will be remembered and change the way things go for you.

New mechanics are introduced throughout the campaign but doesn't forget about being an RTS when that is happening.

Units are limited but instead you get to select the weapons for each unit you train, allowing you to use the unit type and weapon most suited for your situation.

You can also try out several small challenges during the campaign to see how weel you can use each of the units.

There is NO multi-player (Story and Skirmish only - up to 3 AI) so do not buy if that is all you are interested in.

There is only ONE faction (Human) but the weapon customisation allows for up to 100 differnt unit to be created.

The map editor and scripting tool used to make the campaign is available with the game; meaning anyone can create anything seen during the game as well as modify existing units, buildings and soon weapons.
Custom maps can be shared on Steam Workshop so you can make your own content for others or try theirs out giving you endless free content.
It's Easy to use and has a 50 page PDF document to help.

Meridian: New World also has a really nice sound track that fits well.

There are 75 Achievements to work towards if you want give yourself more challenges.

Developer is active in the forums, listens to all suggestions and has a good record for fixing technical issues for people individually.
Community shared maps will continue to provide more and new game play too.
