It's a STALKER game, if you liked the original trilogy you'll like this one.
A lot of pre-release reviews seemed to critique the game over the amount of bugs; my experience has been pretty stable so either the day 1 patch made a big difference or I am desensitized to euro-jank by my memory of playing the original STALKER games without stability mods.

Anyways my only feedback is that some of the loot balance and mutant health could use some tweaking.
1. Bloodsuckers are bullet sponges and not fun or interesting to encounter them. Instead of jumping out of my seat in terror like the old games I just groan and run away so I don't waste the ammo & damage to my gear.
2. Veteran STALKER's hail the game for it's "no level system progression, just find gear" but in reality if you actually try to use the gear found on dead enemies' bodies it will constantly jam - you really need to do quests to get mint condition gear & maintain them at technicians.

One of my favorite games, in it you can freely explore the galaxy doing pretty much whatever you want gaining experience to make yourself more deadly and finding better gear to equip yourself or your squad all while saving the galaxy, making money, and (optionally) getting hoes.

You get the best items in the game from paid DLCs. If this is the type of game you want to play then go ahead and throw away your money, because they're gonna release a new DLC with OP guns and nerf the old OP guns...

The game is balanced poorly and doesn't run that great for what it is.

Pros:

Runs well and looks good.
4-5 hour campaign.
The story is pretty good.

Cons:

Leaves you feeling empty inside after completing the campaign.

The storyline doesn't stand up to the other AC's storylines, but it had the best gameplay out of any of the ACs I've played (4,5,Zero,6)

For the best game experience possible go to settings and set the control scheme from optimum to classic (Gives you more control over your craft.) and play with a controller. (However it DOES work with mouse and keyboard.)

Even though it's a good game, few people play online and those who do frequently abuse poor balancing decisions

Don't be thrown off by the bad reviews, they're most likely people who didn't know they could change the control scheme to classic, or people upset that the gameplay has shyed-away from slow turn fights.

The soundtrack is amazing by the way, look it up. "Naval Warfare" is my favorite

Also, Angry Joe has an excellent review I would recommend watching if you're on the fence about this game. As well as the game putting you into the action fairly quickly before the steam refunds 2 hour limit is up.

Originally I had a negative review, the graphics were horrible and the AI was pitiful, however after I reinstalled on my rig after some upgrades it looked pretty good and the AI was functioning right. Definitely some weird hardware issues or something originally...

Anyways, really cool game and good looking too. Story lasts about 12-14 hours and I can say that NONE of the missions are fillers, it was refreshing the whole playthrough and never really got stale or grindy.

It plays similarly to Bioshock but has stealth elements. TL:DR No spoilers = You play through a semi-open world assassinating conspiritors, you can choose to spare them or kill them in cold blood. You also have the choice between stealthily sneaking through, killing everyone, or any mixture in between.

If you enjoyed Bioshock, Metro 2033, or just about any stealth game you'll enjoy this little gem.

I'm sorry for the original bad review Arkane, my computer was just dumb apparently </3

Gameplay mechanics are solid and Titan mode is amazing but it has balancing issues (OP swords and grenade launchers)

Great game though, I just wish I didn't have to live in fear of 12 year olds with samarai swords.
