Armed Assault is different from every other army game with a gun, setting itself apart from every other game by being a military simulator as opposed to an action game using special forces as a backdrop. ArmA isn't perfect, being closer to a simulator than most video games, you can expect the sort of bugs that most simulator games will encounter, with physics bugs sending tanks through the stratosphere. If that's your sort of thing, I'd say pick it up and leave it at that, but there's one feature I want to highlight that changes everything.

The Zeus DLC was released for free on April 10th, 2014, and it's a massive game changer. One player can take on the role of a game master, and control the entire scenario. Anything can happen from then on. A good Zeus can breathe so much life into your games, turning every session into something worth remembering.

I highly recommend ArmA 3 not only because the Zeus function brings the game master from tabletop roleplaying games to video games, but due to the passionate mod community and the ease of configuring mods, being able to sync collections for easy mod management, the game will have a life cycle that will be eternal, much in a similar vain to the endless amount of mods for Mount and Blade: Warband. The only limit is your imagination.
