Story and design wise I feel like they went over the top. Everything had to be super cool it seems, whereas the original (new) XCOM just had a serviceable plot with serviceable aesthetics and design. The different between the two skyrangers is the biggest tell.

The cons: The base building is weaker, there's no air game at all (which for some is a positive but not for me), and the strategy map feels all around easier. You get materials for expanding your base, as opposed to having to spend resources to expand. WotC can sometimes feel like TOO much, which is something I never thought I'd say. The chosen are monsters at the beginning and by the end they are a nuisance.

The pros: the missions feel better. The complaints about timers seem really miss placed to me. They really ramp up the tension of a mission and mostly eliminate the overwatch crawl that was the dominating strategy of the first. Quality of life is ramped up all around the board, so that's nice.

It's definitely worth a purchase and play if you enjoyed the original. Also as everyone knows Bradford won't shut the ♥♥♥♥ up but there's options for that now in the menu. I'll also admit that at least 200 of the hours come from long war of the chosen 2. Recommend checking that out.
