This game worked fine until Alfheim. Whenever a Light Elf uses their bomb, the game crashes without fail.

Until this is fixed, I cannot recommend the purchase.

Ronin is a sidescroller that resembles Gunpoint to a certain degree. It has a similar jumping and platforming mechanic, but is a lot more combat focused. In fact, the great combat is the game's main selling point. Combat, unlike regular gameplay, is turn based, with enemy attacks being telegraphed via tracer lines. If you, during your turn, move out of the tracer trajectories, you dodge the attacks.

Pros:
+Combat is fun
+Atmospheric soundtrack
+Game is challenging

Cons:
-Locked to30FPS.
-The Skill system. In order to get skill points, you need to complete all three optional objectives of a map, making the "optional" objectives not so optional at all.
-Paper thin story. There is almost no story at all.
-Controls could use some polish. The jump trajectory is unreliable.
-Linear level design. If you are used to Mark of the Ninja or Gunpoint, you will likely be disappointed
-Final level has no checkpoints. Unlike regular levels, you do not die instantly, but get a 9 round countdown that refreshes each time you kill an enemy. If you kill the final boss while the countdown is active, you get the Bad End, but if you manage to kill him and escape without getting hit, you get the Good End. Combine that with the great difficulty of the final map, and it is a recipe for frustration.

I really want to like this game, and if the aforementioned issues get fixed then I will adjust my review accordingly.
