Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

10/10 Highly unrealistic, the ladies are chasing me ^_^

Actual review
Now that I've played through the story mode, i can finally give you my thoughts on Resident Evil: Village. TL;DR: Fantastic title with and authentic setting and plot; I would go as far as to say that this is the definition of what a RE game should be. Must-have for franchise fans and highly recommended for everyone else.
Story (No Spoilers)
With the internet going "Tall lady this, tall lady that", it's easy to overlook the story aspect of this game, mistaking it for something it isn't. Sure, you do get chased by her for a while, but that's about it. She's but an obstacle in your way, and in classic RE fashion, all obstacles must be overcome. The story runs deep, and having played the previous installment, RE7, will give you a great foundation for understanding this one. That is, however, not necessary, as the game offers a recap of all the major events that led up to where you are at the start of the campaign. The files, pictures, specimens and many other hints in the environment will sometimes give answers to the player's ever growing list of questions, which helps strengthen the narrative. The story in this game is a definite strong point.
Gameplay
The gameplay loop is great. You find new weapons, new recipes and new types of enemies rather often. The game is not long enough for it to become repetitive, which is a good thing. The duke, which is inspired by the merchant from RE4, makes an appearance here and is willing to trade you all sorts of goods, for a fair price of course. This blends exceptionally well with the fact that there are all sorts of rewards/treasures to be gained, all of which can be sold to him. The control scheme is good, with most of the binds being what you would normally expect to find in a modern game. I can't say much for the controller side of things, but Capcom has a good history of making intuitive controls for consoles, so i would assume the game can be enjoyed that way too. The crafting system is okay and does its job, requiring you to gain materials and use them to craft whatever it is you desire.
Performance
This game is well optimized. On my RTX 2070, it was staying at around 160-170 fps in the earlier part of the game, although the larger areas were seeing lower fps, at around 120. This was with all the settings cranked to max and no raytracing. You might think that a 50 fps drop is huge, but the drops were never instantaneous, so transitioning from a smaller, inside area, to the larger outside areas was smooth every single time. During my playthrough, I've encountered zero bugs, glitches or crashes, which was a great relief considering the experience I've had with some other recent releases.

Resident Evil Village is a great successor to RE7, both in terms of story and gameplay. For long time fans of the franchise this is basically a modern game that somehow manages to give a very familiar feeling, to us, the players.
Overall: 10/10, A classic in disguise
