I was initially quick to judge this game as dark souls with a horse and a wide open world(AKA dark souls meets Zelda:BOTW). Then I started noticing the little details, and I think it has as much depth and detail to the world as any open world game to date. I now believe this to be the best version of the initial vision for these games. It accomplishes meshing almost every aspect of the previous games, but better.

As previous reviews mention the difficult elements of the game can be overcome through careful exploration and progression, and then coming back to face the challenges when you feel prepared.

The lore pulls you in more than any of the previous games, and gives you a taste of a myth that feels epic in scale yet maintains mystery no matter how deep you go.

The variety and potency of different combat options is the most satisfying of any of fromsoft's soulslike games.

My one complaint is not having mounted Co-op. With a little creativity Co-op can still be satisfying. I recommend one player progressing or unlocking as many waypoints in the game as possible, and then you can co-op through challenging areas together back and forth.

After playing these games 13 years and thousands of hours the formula still holds up.

Having played the game through completely on the ps3, I was hoping it would fair well on the jump to PC. I use a controller because it's what I am used to. That being said it seems the keyboard-mouse controls are fairly decent. I highly recommend this game for action rpg enthusiants. I would avoid bitterblack until the end of the base game, and I wouldn't start hard mode until a full playthrough as well. The final normal game boss on hardmode was a freaking nightmare.

I am enjoying this game more than the previous installments.

I am having little to no issues running the game with SLI 970s and outdated everything else. Obviously there are going to be some configurations that work. I am glad most games work out of the box on most configurations these days, but pulling the game because some people are having issues due to their hardware config is crazy. I can maybe see it if they know they won't be able to patch it properly anytime soon. That being said, I can remember a time 15 years ago where I had to go out and buy 1 out of 5 cards that would run a particular game properly. I am not saying you should have to pay for something you can't play, but PC gaming has never been perfect on every config and I don't think it should be expected anytime soon.

After coming to love telltale games over the last year, I thought a borderlands themed game could be great if it captured the comedy well. So far, this series goes way above and beyond even that. It has all the charm of borderlands humor and then some. The characters are great, and it's cool to see some of the series previous characters developed more. <3 zer0 :P
