Truly awful monetization. Extremely grindy P2W Rift mode engineered to get you to open your wallet and force friends to play. Outrageous skin prices. Can't try out characters in local. Battlepass XP is challenge based so you can't just play the game and level up. Login rewards, limited lives... This is a mobile game to the bone and WB should be ashamed. They want all your time and all your money. Play something else.

I expected this game to evolve over time and get better, but every patch was lacking, and then the patches stopped. I don't know where the dev is, but this game has little to offer as is.

This game awesome. High time to kill destruction shooter with tons of builds including melee. Makes sense why Battlefield 2042 was such a flop, the best EA people left to make this.

Light spoilers for the early main quest.

I talked to a man that had coordinates to an anomalous tower. I left the station and sat through an undocking animation. I pulled up the map and fast traveled to the quest planet without having been there before because that's how space travel works in this game. After the loading screen I was in orbit. I pulled up the map again and fast traveled to the quest icon. After the loading screen I watched an animation of my ship landing.

On the surface I began scanning for the tower. Upon discovering this tower I began the journey and walked in a straight line for a few minutes. There were no hostiles or anything of interest on the walk there. This game does not have vehicles that you can use on planets. You cannot fly your ship around the surface. So my walk ended at the tower. I waited for the door to open and was presented with a pretty, mechanically bankrupt... "puzzle" to acquire space magic.

I opened the map, fast traveled back to the man with coordinates (loading), sat through a docking animation, and talked to him again. He has more coordinates. I repeat this exact same process ~6 times until he ran out of coordinates. There was no variation, same tower, same puzzle. This game is mostly loading screens and walking. I quit after this experience. Maybe modders can save this game, but it's so far behind in tech and design that I have doubts.

This game is a ton of fun. The basic mechanics are satisfying and surprisingly deep while the modes are interesting and diverse. There's also cross team VOIP (can be disabled) which is hilarious in this kind of game. It's basically a more combative and diverse Fall Guys and I'm having a blast.

Let's address the controversy. The game released without Offline play and people thought it would have it due to developers accidentally saying it would. In this case, I do believe it was an accident. That said, if you don't care about offline play you can ignore that completely.

I've been playing Total War for a while now. Every so often the devs drop the ball and get a little greedy, a little lazy, or both, it happens. The community reminds them why the money flows and we move on. This time feels different. Ever since WH3 came out things have not been as expected. More bugs, less content, less transparency, higher prices. WH3 launched in a sorry state, they made it slightly better over a long period but nobody cared much because we were all waiting for Immortal Empires, the mode that would turn the Total War: WARHAMMER trilogy into a magnum opus.

The mode came and it was busted. Bugs, balance, design, all far below what is acceptable or fun. Even for these devs it was a bad look. I took a break, willing to wait for them to polish up Immortal Empires so I could come back and play the game as It should be. This is an ambitious game, I thought, give them some time. I come back many months later expecting to play a better game and am shocked to see that not only has very little improved, but the devs got it into their head that it was time to press their luck. The upcoming Shadows of Change DLC will have both less content and cost way more than usual. I gave them close to a year to get their ♥♥♥♥ together and they're trying to cash in on goodwill they spent long ago, so they can fund some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hero shooter that is absolutely dead on arrival.

We're not your wallet, CA, and we won't pick up the slack supporting your failed endeavors. You put people to work on this game and we can talk. It's not too late to turn this around. Don't let the years of blood, sweat, and tears go to waste when you're so close to greatness.

If you're looking for awesome flow combat like the Arkham games you won't find it here. Just play the Arkham games. If you've already played them to death Shadow of Mordor/War also have some excellent flow combat. You know what? The awful Marvel Avengers game has better combat than this.

The Gut Feeling update is so good I feel like I should pay for it. Since it's free I bought this skin, which is fine.

I've been waiting to review for a while. This game released in such a poor state, but I thought the potential was there so I held my review. Luckily Techland stuck with it because after the Gut Feeling update I can absolutely recommend this game. The combat and ragdolls are so much better now, approaching and sometimes surpassing Dying Light 1's. With more updates and DLC on the horizon the future is ironically bright for Dying Light.
