This game is a waste of your time, at no additional cost

This game constantly baits you into playing just another day. This is done with the login system, time-limited events that may appear once a year, or free drops of essential resources every 2 weeks.

• Gameplay

The crux of the game is to grind out mastery points for 500+ weapons, frames, companions etc. Sure you can do it on your own, but you quickly find the meta way to do it. The game gets frequent updates that introduce more such weapons etc. So after a while, you're basically waiting for updates to grind for more mastery points.

Difficulty in this game is easy, even after you unlock all areas. But recently, the DE decided to limit your frame capabilities on newer enemies, or just make them invulnerable outright without giving in-game hints to make it more difficult. The AI is dumb and if there's a lot of enemies, some of them just stand still. Yet somehow you can die if they slam the ground near you and you don't have a mod that is only accessible after about 600 days of logging in.

A lot of gameplay issues still remain unaddressed. There is still no universal vacuum , Augment mods continue to bloat the game. Most of the weapon builds are the same with little variations, but since the enemies are so easy you don't need variety anyways.

The old warframes are badly designed for the current meta, reworks are suggested frequently, but they promptly get ignored until several years pass. See Vauban and Ember. DE also takes feedback for reworking old frames and then proceed to make a new frame out of it. See Protea.

The game looks and sounds good but you don't need to play a game to evaluate that these days.

• Conclusion

I would have said to try the game a bit, but it's impossible to get a 'vertical slice' of this game without putting in a heavy amount of time. In that time you either become a partner and brigade against criticism or leave as to why certain gameplay elements never came to fruition.

• Extra

About a year ago, the game received three back to back updates that had a mind numbing amount of grinding to do, namely the Old Blood, Empyrean and Scarlet Spear updates. The community has widely despised these additions to the game, so this year some fixes and revisions were made to make them less tedious.
DE gained back some goodwill, but only to lose it again this year with sudden knee-jerk nerfs to popular meta weapons. They successfully managed to sow fear in players to use popular weapons in some mad dash to protect to bottom line. Cheers for that DE.
